You can build them real light too, with exotic metals like titanium and magnesium but what a shame to blow it up....

I'm afraid this right here is going to become one of the biggest long term 'issues' with these drones:

This is the 'family safe' version...

as a matter of 'research' I did check out the un-censored one and it isn't worth the effort to track it down...

This guy definitely should have had a higher resolution camera ;) ;) ;)

I've seen lots of cheap "consumer" models on sale (less than $100) and they all say the range is 6 or 7 minutes. And the last one I saw said 100 minutes to charge.

U.S. military hopes to enlist tiny, durable Cicada minidrone

U.S. military scientists have invented a miniature drone that fits in the palm of a hand, ready to be dropped from the sky like a mobile phone with wings.

The “micro air vehicle” is named after the insect that inspired its invention, the cicada, which spends years underground before appearing in great swarms, reproducing and then dropping to the ground dead.

“The idea was why can’t we make UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) that have the same sort of profile,” said Aaron Kahn of the Naval Research Laboratory. “We will put so many out there, it will be impossible for the enemy to pick them all up.”

The Cicada — short for Covert Autonomous Disposable Aircraft — was designed to be smaller, cheaper and simpler than any other robotic aircraft — but still able to carry out a mission in a remote battlefield.

The prototype cost just $1,000, and the cost could come down to as little as $250 apiece, said Kahn, a flight controls engineer at the naval lab.

With no motor and only about 10 parts, the Cicada resembles a paper airplane with a circuit board.

It is designed to glide to programmed GPS coordinates after being dropped from an aircraft, a balloon or a larger drone, researchers said.

In a test about three years ago in Yuma, Arizona, Cicada drones were released from 57,600 feet (17,500 meters). The little drone flew — or fell — 11 miles (18 km), landing within 15 feet of its target.

The Cicada drone can fly at about 46 miles per hour (74 kilometers per hour) and are virtually silent, with no engine or propulsion system.

I still think, and hate to put it out electronically, this could be one of the most lethal weapons used to carry out political assassinations of anything I have ever seen.

Yes, that too.......but my point is that in general these things can be deathly weapons.  I'm not even sure if an EMP disables them.

Not just political, personal vendetta's.
Only a coward would use a drone for that reason. A real man would do it face to face.

Only a coward would use a drone computer for that reason. A real man would do it face to face.

Fixed it for you...lol.  You appear to be skating on thin ice again.  I was holding out hope that you were actually attempting to act civil.
