State game area proposed in London
« on: August 14, 2016, 09:57:14 AM »

I've been hearing a little chatter about this for several months and was kind of wondering when there would be an actual announcement.

It would be larger than the one in Summerfield.  I've never hunted that one but I have donated a few 'critters' that had wandered into my live traps!

Here's the PowerPoint presentation that was given to London Township officials and then to the County Commissioners.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/11Fc5wBaa3oAyqVQ3E08bvTqvvqYqyHWoIy1-pA2TDyE/edit#slide=id.p3

If you have Chrome it should just open.

I have no idea if it will open in Windows or Safari or Firefox or other browsers but you can go here and download the free PowerPoint viewer direct from Microsoft:

I know there is an easy (for some people) method to convert the PowerPoint presentation to a YouTube video.  I'll look into that when I have more time to experiment ;) ;) ;)

I've donated more than a few there, especially this year.  Mostly coons and possums. ;D

I don't know of anyone who has ever taken an animal in the Summerfield Game area.

The County Board of Commissioners is giving their letter of support for the project.

The article gives an email address where it says the public can voice their concerns.  I don't see one where the public can voice their support.  I guess I'll just send my comments of support to the address they're giving.

The way I look at it the DNR is going to spend the $7.5M somewhere in Michigan and I'd just as soon see it here in Monroe County as anywhere else.  For the most part there is already plenty of public access land everywhere else I go in the state.

From the very bottom of the story:

Concerns about the project can be directed to Jennifer Olson, a biologist with the DNR, by e-mailing olsonj1@michigan.gov or calling (517) 284-4739.
