Hepatitis A, Great.........
« on: March 18, 2018, 09:01:29 PM »

Well the S/O and I got caught up in the Olga's debacle on Thursday.

We went to the Health dept. Friday morning at 8:10 am.  Clinic opens at 8:30 am.  Drat.... over 30 people waiting for vaccines.  HD says as long as we get it within 2 weeks we should be OK.

I wonder how many people will come in for the vaccine.

HD needs to come up with a plan for testing and prevention to abate this serious issue in food handling.  It looks to me that there will be more cases coming up in Monroe County and no end in sight.

We won't stop eating in restaurants but definitely are more aware.  Not a whole lot a customer can do about it.

There are a lot of stupid, lazy, uninformed, ignorant, pick one! people.
I see guys almost every day at the gym leave the locker room without washing..

I don't go to gyms just based on all the grossness that happens.... blowing snot, sweat droplets everywhere, watched a few morons spit in the open, wet farts on the benches... yes I have seen it in person, and a host of other weirdness.

I stay away from gyms, crowds, public bathrooms and port-a-potties.  Not a germaphobe but those places give me the willies. Germs, bacteria, and assorted diseases are just nasty.

All I know is what I've seen in various news outlets.

So far I don't recall a single customer actually being diagnosed with Hep A...

how much of that is due to the vaccine I have no idea.

I think you can get the vaccine from other places too although there may be a cost involved depending on your insurance scenario.

Hopefully everything works out fine for both of you.

I always keep one thing in mind.  People are animals, the only difference between humans and animals is the ability to rationalize and in most cases, that is a downfall.  IOW, people in general are pigs.  Just look around, pretty evident.

No gyms or public restrooms for me either unless it's a must do (restroom) and then I'm very careful about touching door handles or the lever on the commode / urinal.  I use my clothed elbow instead and never. never touch anything.

Candidly, I'd rather whizz in an empty bottle and toss it in a dumpster.

When we were heading for the mall we went up Telegraph and turned at Mall Road.  There was at least one person heading into Olga's but the parking lot wasn't jam packed full.  It was almost 2 pm so probably any rush would have already been over.

Like the mall, don't know where 'Olga's' even is.  Don't want to either.  Adrian, Blissfield, Dundee and Tecumseh have everything we need...  and more.

It's all about where you live and what is convenient.  If I were in your neck of the woods I probably wouldn't bother to come this way, the same I have no reason to go to Adrian and Tecumseh.  I've been to Blissfield once and that was to go to that old restaurant.

I drove by the Tim Horton's on S. Monroe street this morning about 10:30 and I would guess they're probably about back to normal from what I could see with the cars in the parking lot.  The drive thru line stretched clear around the building and out of site...

so, either the Hep A scare has passed or the place is filled with people boycotting Starbucks!

People have short memories...  I don't see how the one in Dundee survives.  It's always empty when I go past.

I think a lot of people go on the theory that after a restaurant has been shut down and thoroughly cleaned and the staff retrained and all vacinated then probably that is now the safest place in town to eat!

Through all of the noise and fallout from this there still has not been a case of a customer testing positive from eating in a restaurant in our area.

Amazing how people find a place and just stake out a claim.    I've had spots like that over the years too.

Horton's is a scant step above Krispy Kreme.  Sliders made in a kitchen in a remote location and delivered in the middle of the night.  At least Horton's offers in house made other stuff but the donuts are all made elsewhere.
