I saw something strange right about that time today also. I first heard-- not a siren but another waling sound--from a sheriffs car going north on Telegraph rd heading past 7th street. He looked like he was escorting a big monster truck down Telegraph. I thought it strange that a sheriff car would be doing that sort of service but there it was. A little while later I saw a sheriff car pull back in the parking lot of Monroe Grill where the monster truck is housed regularly. I didn't watch to see what the sheriff was doing I just thought it odd the an official duty of the sheriff was to escort this truck to wherever it was going.
Maybe a parade of some kind ? Football related ? homecoming maybe ?
Since it was a Friday night I kind of thought maybe something for a homecoming festivity or even just a football pre-game but we didn't see anything on our nice long slow drive down Elm and then the one vehicle at a time left turn onto Roessler. Didn't see anything on Front as we crossed either. I did have a fire scanner with me and no chatter on that but it wouldn't have picked up the sheriff's escort car.
I do notice that monster truck sitting out there. I think it's got Monroe Dodge painted on it somewhere. I've always been going to go over and check it out when we eat there but it's never there when we go in. We haven't been around as much this summer to eat anywhere in town.
Hopefully our detour was for something positive like a homecoming parade. Keeping a bunch of young people entertained and out of trouble for 45 minutes was worth my time for the detour.
