Two rescue calls at two different branches of the library within 20 minutes!

First one downtown at the Dorsch Branch and then one at main Ellis library out on S. Custer.

Probably children going into shock that information can be obtained from books instead of a smart phone.

As logical as that may seem at least the call downtown was for a woman that was in her 80s if I'm getting the calls straight.

LOL, yea, my sarcasm came out.

I was at a fine-dining place last week having supper with a business associate and just observed families out doing the same.  Almost every table, young and old, had their neck's bent looking at their smart phones instead of good old fashioned talking.  One younger family with two children all had them out before their meals came out and I thought how sad.

I'm sure they would have preferred text messaging their meal orders to the waitress rather than verbally order.

That's coming to a place near you sooner than you think.

The gal that is dispatching on the fire frequency today sounds like she's either getting a cold or is just getting over one!

I hope it's the latter and she's on the rebound.

She has had to do a lot of talking today so I'm sure that isn't helping how she feels!!!

A dispatch for a car that just went off of I-75 near Front Street included "the car is now starting to take on water"!

I have to giver her credit in that she hung right in there and took care of business.  Probably one of the busiest days they've had in several months.

I realized that during lunch I was hearing a man's voice so I though maybe she'd gone home but after lunch she was right back at it.

I've lost track of who is who down there anymore but at one time one of the gals was also a firefighter in Sylvania, OH.  We were at one of their pancake breakfasts one morning and I heard her talking and I'm going "I recognize the voice but don't know the gal".

I finally went and asked her how I knew her voice.  She laughed and then explained what she did with her working life.

Ida rescue was dispatched a bit ago to Lewis and M-50 for an elderly man acting strange.  The call came in through Onstar.  By the time Ida could get there the vehicle had left.  Onstar was tracking the vehicle and conveying the GPS co-ordinates to central who was then relaying the info to Ida.  At this point the vehicle has left the general area.

Hopefully any personal situation has also been taken care of.

I haven't owned a GM vehicle for years so don't know what all Onstar can do.

Can Onstar determine a driver is behaving strange or would there have had to have been a person activating Onstar for this to have occured?

Just after 1 am this morning I woke up.  The scanner had been quiet but had a sudden surge.  It's actually interesting how often that will happen.

The first call was for a person that could not locate their meds so they were calling for assistance.  A lot better to run a call to help like that than to have to run an emergency call later because they hadn't been taking their meds on schedule.

The other two calls were vehicle crashes...

that's a fairly popular time of the morning for those.

A responding patrol car called the FD off before they arrived on one and the other one I don't remember much...

must have fallen back asleep!

Onstar knows everything your veh is doing.  it knows when you crash.  it knows how fast you are going.
It knows how you are driving. It knows when you are braking.
