I checked my profile and did have my email set up as second option but I did not receive an email.  Maybe that function isn't operational yet.

I got mine as an email to my Gmail account which goes direct to my phone so their email must be working.  There is a reply they want you to send back to them too!

Yep,  Just saw the email in my Gmail account. I have the .bex mail account set up on my profile.  It takes awhile for my .bex to sync with gmail.

I also received a call to my cell but it wasn't on yet and went to voicemail.  I don't have my home phone in my profile so i'm puzzled as to why the call came their too.
My caller ID shows  734-457-6792.
I'll set that up in my contacts.  If they use the same phone each time I'll know when it rings what it is.

I'm thinking I only signed up for email alerts...

so the 5 digit phone call I had during that timeframe was probably just the guy that has all the money he's going to send me...

as soon as I send him some :o :o :o

Sounds like everyone here has had a positive experience with their test!

Also glad to hear that they have had a chance to use it for at least one situation.  I would be interested to hear if they've used it for others.  Maybe the MEN will do a followup on the system now that this test is over.

I received two notifications yesterday...

Alert at 3:04 and cancellation at 3:56!!!

I posted the alert info here at 10:23 and it was already after central dispatch had toned out all the county Fire Departments!

A great concept but they're going to have to make it work faster!

I'm betting human error on this one...  probably just not familiar with the operation yet :-\ :-\ :-\

It is a nice system.

I liked getting the texts for the storm warnings.

Good idea, they need to work on timeliness.

Sounds like you have all the bases covered blue2...

now if we could just get them to send it out a little quicker next time!

Does anyone know if this comes from EMD?

I received a sever thunderstorm warning on my land line phone.
I was always told not to use the telephone during thunderstorms.
Is it safe?

I have yet to receive one alert for anything by home, email or cell. For weather, I have other sources.
I recently went through and and checked and cancel on alert notification.
For my cell, maybe it's my provider?

Your parents are correct because the metal wiring of the telephone lines conduct electricity very well and should a lightning bolt strike your house, or a connected power line outside your home, you will likely be electrocuted if you were using a corded telephone. Note that only corded (wired) phones are dangerous because they are connected to the wiring. Phones that have no cords attached to them are perfectly safe to use during lightning storms, provided that all other safety precautions are followed.

I finally received my very first warning through this system last night!  And within 30 seconds I saw on Twitter that they had in fact sent out a system wide warning.

Just like people...

I guess it takes some government agencies longer than others to 'master' technology ;) ;) ;)

I received the warning on my cell yesterday afternoon.  I've had some before too.  Then text asks you to confirm for some reason.
Also received a msg on the home phone from the sheriff dept.
I'll have to check my set up but I don't remember asking to be notified on home phone.

The paper said they notify anyone in the white pages, not saying in the correct prefixes, but I assume they meant that.
