Rainwater from the roof equals bird dung in the water among other things..... ;D

It may become a case of 'choose your poison'!

I believe the intake is out in the bay off the City of Oregon.

Move where?  It's all bad......

Glas we have a well, might not be the best water but no algae toxins.....

I bring city water from the office for our coffee pot because we have lots of iron in our water.  Before this is over I may be hauling our well water in to make coffee there though ;) ;) ;)

Even showering with it may cause a rash!

So, once they have the 'supply' fixed how long does it take to flush all this out of the pipes from Toledo all the way up to Trapperz ??? ??? ???

They'll be using paper plates for a week...

at least they serve 'bottled and purified' water (beer) :) :) :)

The Toledo Zoo is closed today...

saving their water reserves for the critters!

Also all Toledo and Lucas County libraries are closed.  I haven't heard or seen any closings in Bedford or Erie yet!

I suspect any mandatory regulation will be a very touchy subject in as much as farmers are pretty well exempt from regulation  concerning runoff.

It will come....now

Lawn care companies need to be regilated as well for application of pesticides/herbicides and growth stimulants aka: Nitrogen and associated nitrates.

I believe this is the first time I've seen a water system go down because of the algae bloom since I have been here.  Anybody ever seen this before?

SFP.....yea, I can see this leading into regulations of N, for sure.  I have heard that blamed for the bloom for the last several years now.

BRD.....I can't remember for sure where the Toledo intake is but I seem to recall from by boating days that it was somewhere this side of the river channel, and not too far out into the basin.  Pretty shallow there from what I recall.

Wonder if this will end up with moving the intakes out to deeper water further off shore.

Anyone see a live satellite shot of the lake, the marker lines should be noticeable?

OH.....and if women are afraid to shower, the water at my place is fine.

I'm watching the ongoing 'special' on 13ABC Toledo...

they were just talking about some of the business places that are price gouging already!

I did hear from my wife and they are out of water at her store in Brownstown.  It's just off 75 and the people are still walking in looking for water.

Here are a couple of 'entrepreneurs'...

http://toledo.craigslist.org/for/4599271356.html

Another one has been deleted already...  they were selling a 16 oz bottle for $5...  either they sold out or got to feeling 'guilty'!!!

They're talking on 13ABC Toledo about people having to go as far as Ypsilanti to find bottled water!

Humm.....an opportunistic person should Tweet free water out of the garden hose here in Monroe Township to women wearing thin white tee shirts.

Here's the crib that sits on top of the Toledo Water system intake...   out a couple of miles from the mouth of Cooley Canal east of Toledo maybe 10 miles.  I remember seeing it but didn't realize what it was.  The nice 'stay back 300 feet' sign wasn't there then ;) ;) ;)

I've tried to find it on Google aerials but they don't do a very high resolution out in the lake...

I'll look on a chart and it should show up there!

Yup....that's it, now I remember.  Hit a few big schools of perch out there a few years back.  Didn't think it was that far out though....10 miles.  Must be one hell of an area affected by the bloom......all that shallow water, N, and some good intense sunlight is all it takes.
