Mexican margaritas are more potent than in the US, and the hangovers in higher altitudes hurt a hell of a lot more.

Lower humidity at high altitudes results in dehydration.   Drink more water.

I'm thinking that today feels more like May weather than the last couple of days have.

And it looks like we're going to get an all day soaker tomorrow.

Our youngest daughter sent me an email yesterday about the local wildfires near where we go in Florida.  One was real close and in one of the subdivisions that never reached 'full potential' back in the 90s or so.  Part of the problem is they've let all the unsold lots just revert to nature and you have beautiful homes surrounded by Florida nature...

and right now Florida nature is very, very dry and it burns fast and hot!

Another fire on the bombing range at Avon Park (maybe 7 or 8 miles away from us) which started from some type of military training event they think.  Very few roads for 20-30 mile stretches so they are attempting to fight it by lighting fires ahead of it and burning the fuel load (back burning).  So far between 3-4000 acres have burned since Wednesday.

Surrounded by water (on both sides) and dryer than a popcorn fart....

Got some more patch planted today and it started raining...

Our friends are north of Dawson Creek, heading for Alaska in their RV.  Been on the road for 3 weeks now (From Maine to Healy (Denalli National Park), Alaska.  Just under 5000 miles one way.  Hinted around about us going.  Not for us.  Still winter up there....

I have already added Anchorage to one of my weather apps on my tablet.  The temp yesterday was only 5 degrees lower than here although this morning it is 15 degrees lower.  Quite often the temp in Marquette is lower than it is in Anchorage and I survived a few Marquette winters ;) ;) ;)

The snow was deep at Jasper in BC.  We are getting lots of interesting pictures of Elk, Bear, Rocky Mountain Sheep....  and snow, tall mountains and steep grades.

Like I said, they wanted us to tag along, glad I didn't.  Healy is the land of the Midnight Sun.  It never gets dark there in the summer, I'd have issues adjusting.

Denali National Park is a beautiful place but the park is closed to motorized traffic. from what I understand.

Healy is at the eastern edge of Denali.  It's a mining town.  All the people who live there work in the open pit mines, mining coal.  Been told all the coal travels by rail from Healy to Valdez and is loaded on ships bound for China.  Also been told that all the homes in Healy are heated by the coal thats mined there, for free.

If you do a Goggle Earth view of Healy and pan to the north east a bit, you can see the mines and machinery used to extract the coal.

I found it interesting to whom the coal was sold (China is the only customer so I was told) being mined from American soil.  Bet it's a pure Biatch up there in the winter, when its dark all the time and snowy and COL:D...

I'm going to reply to this over in the 'North to Alaska' thread.

Seems construction is still not progressing very fast on the Jimmy Johns...

the exterior of the building looks 90% complete but they still need to lay some asphalt in the parking lot.  They've done the curbs and gutters but still need some asphalt and some landscaping to finish off the outside.  No idea what the inside looks like :-\ :-\ :-\

I see Bill has moved the big propeller and shaft that was down by the old quarry entrance over along Hull Road.  I assume that will be near the new entrance and/or parking lot for the restaurant.
