President Bush continues to plan for a 9-day Middle East trip in January.
More Mideast talks could signal a real breakthrough. instead of trading insults behind each other's back, the Palestinians and Israelis can insult each other face to face.

Prediction: At the January Mideast talks the Palestinians and Israelis will say such nasty things to each other the Democrats and Republicans will be taking notes.

The scary thing is, with Arabs and Israelis and President Bush all involved, these peace talks could lead to war.

'Tis the season for Middle East peace talks. Unfortunately, everybody wants to make the other guy sleep in the stable.

This is too true to be very funny
The next time you hear a politician use the
word "billion" in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the "politicians" spending
YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of its releases.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and
20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New
Orleans It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division . .

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for
$250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number, what does it
mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of
New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you
each get $516,528

B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family
gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D.C .. HELLO!!! .. Are all your calculators broken??

Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his booze,
Tax his beers,
If he cries,
Tax his tears.

Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,
Tax his cash.

Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.

If he hollers,
Tax him more,
Tax him until he's good and sore.

Tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"

And when he's gone,
We won't relax,
We'll still be after the inheritance TAX!!
Accounts Receivable Tax

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the
world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened? Can you spell 'politicians!'

And I still have to "press

I hope this goes around THE
USA at least 100 times

What the heck happened?????

This is a forwarded email

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a small hospital near Tampa, Florida, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.

Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, they found this poem.
Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.
One nurse took her copy to Missouri. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St.Louis Association for Mental Health.
A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem and this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this anonymous poem winging across the Internet.

What do you see nurses? .......What do you see?
What are you thinking......when you're looking at me?
A crabby old man...............not very wise,
Uncertain of habit ........with faraway eyes?
Who dribbles his food.......and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice....."I do wish you'd try!"
Who seems not to notice ....the things that you do.
And forever is losing ..............a sock or shoe?
Who, resisting or not...........lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding ....... the long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking?
Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse......you're not looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am ...... as I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding ........as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten......with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters .......who love one another
A young boy of Sixteen ...........with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now. ..........a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at twenty .........my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows.......that I promised to keep.
At Twenty-Five, now .........I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide ..... and a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty ......... my young now grown fast,
Bound to each other ........ with ties that should last.
At Forty, my young sons ........have grown and are gone,
But my woman's beside me........to see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more .........babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children ......... my loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me .......... my wife is now dead.
I look at the future ............I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing ........young of their own.
And I think of the years...... and the love that I've known.
I'm now an old man.........and nature is cruel.
T'is jest to make old age ......look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles..........grace and vigor, depart.
There is now a stone........where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass ...... a young guy still dwells,
And now and again ........my battered heart swells.
I remember the joys............. I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living............life over again.
I think of the years…all too few......gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact.......that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people .........open and see.
Not a crabby old man. Look closer....see.......ME!!

Remember this poem when you next meet an older person that you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within.....we will all, one day, be there, too.
PLEASE SHARE THIS POEM
The best and most beautiful things of this world can't be seen or touched. They must be felt by the heart.
GROWING OLD IS NOT FOR SISSIES!

Wow, FF I have never heard the poem story before... Think I would have...being my location and that I work in the mental health field...  I can say this, I can see how the poem could be written... but for every bad nurse I have worked with... There are some very good ones too!
