Ever get sick of the news? It's so depressing. 17 kids killed in Florida and then the pols have to weigh in before the bodies are even cold. Don't know which is more depressing.

My take, as an old fart, is that our society has been gradually crumbling for many decades.
My dad had a good friend over the years named Doug Robinson. A good guy. As a child I addressed him as Mr. Robinson. Years later, as an adult, when I was in my 40s, when I ran across him I would still address him as Mr. Robinson, not Doug. That's the way it was.

In my younger years when you went to church you wore a suit and tie, or a sports coat and a tie at a minimum. Even the kids. Not so much anymore.

Not sure these example will resonate much with folks now a days, but back then intact families were the norm, we respected our elders, and we never read about 17 kids getting gunned down at school.

Maybe the 696 and overall infrastructure can be focused on after The Wall is up with tunnel systems set up.

I wonder if those tunnels will have better ventilation than the Detroit - Windsor tunnel?

Pieces of concrete come flying up at you from the road
Luckily I haven't had anything fall off an overpass at me, yet.

That makes some sense with the M-14 in Afg and Iraq.  Certainly more killing power. And I doubt there was as much foot patrol there like VN..And ammo wasn't that far away

I was not a big fan of the M-16 way back then and my opinion hasn't changed any since.  I'd take one M-14 over a dozen AR-15s.

That makes two of us.

For anything bigger than a ground hog I take the M14.

The 7.62 / .308 is a far better round than the 5.56 / .223.

As a weapon - it is far superior.

However....  you just can't carry as much .308 with you, and from what I've read wounding someone is way better than a kill.

I found it interesting that the M14 made a comeback in Iraq and Afghanistan.
