Wildlife Photos...
« on: April 22, 2010, 08:23:42 AM »

It's Earth Day 2010...

at least partially a product of the hippie movement of the 60's...

I've been wanting to start a thread just for wildlife pics so this seems like the perfect opportunity.

Feel free to post anything you consider wildlife.

I have a self triggering trail or game camera set up back in our woods.  Some of my pictures are from there and others are just things I see when I'm out and about.

I have posted some of these previously and a few very recently in the "What did you see out your window today" thread...

http://monroetalks.com/forum/just-asking/what-did-you-see-out-your-window-today/

but since most of these are not something I actually saw out my window let's go this way...

Everyone please feel free to contribute ;D ;D ;D

This first guy (well, I assume it's a guy) I've named Yikes!!

I got one picture of him before and both times I've emailed the photos to a friend, the reply I get back is "yikes!!

This is from my trail camera and "yes" I know the year is set wrong.  I'll change it the next time I change batteries...

I actually saw the camera flash when this one was taken.  We'd just gotten home from Toledo and it looked like rain so I was going to the barn to put some stuff away...

The camera is not too far from the barn and she is looking right about where I would have been when I saw the flash so she must have heard me and stopped...

I have another picture of her earlier the same night but it is of the other end of her...

This is Rocky   (if you don't remember Rocky Raccoon you're very young)...

I get quite a few pics of Rocky...   out and about a lot at night and quite inquisitive...

If my camera ever disappears I'll go looking for Rocky 8* 8* 8*

Sometimes Rocky gets up close and personal with the camera...

too close sometimes!!!

We've been seeing more and more turkeys every year.  This picture is literally out the window...

it's through the glass and the screen and using a lot of telephoto...

There are actually about 5 different turkeys in this picture...   several just to the right of the tom with his tail fanned out...

We are hearing and seeing a lot more pheasants the last few years.  These pictures are out the window of the car.  Saw him (guessing it's the same guy) within 200 yards of the same place two different times while out just driving down the road this past winter...

Watched him both times for probably 20 minutes and he never showed the least concern that I was there...  He seemed very intent on just finding something to eat...

Even got some video when I have time to upload it to share...

These pics are both using the camera in my cell phone...

This guy and his girlfriend show up in our backyard and swim around in our pond for a few weeks every spring.   Been hoping they would set up shop nearby, but they always seem to wander off somewhere else to raise their flock.

Then, I decided to put one of those live traps near our garage, in hopes of catching the coons that have been raiding our garbage cans, killing our chickens, etc.   Instead, I was rewarded with this fella.  There's more to the story...but you really don't want to hear that part :)
