Politicians are scared to death of not getting reelcted.

And they have been trained that the only way to get re-elected is to bring the goodies back to the district - even when we have no way to pay for them.

It's like everyone in Washington DC is a child.

Everyone has to completely get their way for something to be bipartisan - and that means that we have to spend more and more that we don't have.

Adults understand you don't get everything you want right now, and often times you never get what you want, but you have to make the best decisions you can given the circumstances.

Politicians are not Adults apparently.

I really don't know how people can support this undisciplined, out of control government!  I love America, but not this government.

If our President was an adult he would have not signed the bill - and told the Legislature to show some hint of responsibility.

Instead he said if you only elect more from my Party - then we won't have to be bipartisan - and it will save money.

He clearly doesn't understand HE could have forced a better package.

As much as I hate the political scene, I’ve kind of resolved myself to accept it. For all the unscrupulous and illegal things that have gone on for the last several years, I see almost no one wearing an orange jumpsuit. Lie, cheat, destroy evidence. If investigated, just claim you lost records / emails, and plead the 5th. Nothing happens. No one is charged with crimes. It’s just blah ... blah... blah.  I hate it, and won’t forget it, but feel helpless.

I sincerely think Trump means well, but hasn’t had a bit of help from Republicans, Democrats, or Media. If no one is going to let Trump try to do the right thing, I have no confidence in the future of our political system.

Does Trump just throw up his hands and quit after this term or does he start calling them all out?  A second Trump term might be quite damaging to a lot of politicians. If he doesn't plan on cleaning up DC then he may not run again..

I think Trump may mean well.....

But our founders made a Government that had 3 distinct branches, and with checks and balances between each branch.

This was a time he could have invoked one of those built in check and balances to make the Government run as the founders intended.

Instead he used it to say elect more of our clowns, and perhaps then we will behave less irresponsibly.

That isn't a freaking leader.  That is another child.

I have no hope.  There is dying fast, and dying slow.  Either way the outcome will be the same.

Honestly I can't tell you what combination of children in DC will get us to the end the fastest.

Apparently the Trump administration is considering asking if a person is a citizen on the next census. Predictably California liberal officials are up in arms. Well since the census determines
the number of congressional districts, and therefore the number of congressmen/women for a given state, and the amount of federal funds provided by the federal government it makes a difference. And given the huge number of illegal aliens in California it is understandable why they would be upset.

Then again, why should a state like California be rewarded with more congressional representatives, and more government largess, simply because they have a humongous number of illegals swelling their population. I'll answer the easy ones. They shouldn't.

However, I'm not unreasonable. We need to know how many folks are in the country. So tell the folks in California we'll count everybody, but only citizens will count when it comes to
determining the number of congressional districts and the amount of federal funds sent to those districts.

Well you are right. A very large group of people residing in the country shouldn't be afforded representatives in Congress..

Here is the thing about Dems. They don't want to see illegal immigration, racial strife, gender this or that, etc. improve because then they'd lose them as campaign fodder. Think about it.
For decades they have painted the pukes as racists who have no regard for the plight of black Americans. To enhance their narrative, they have encouraged black Americans to call themselves African Americans. Well I'm of primarily German heritage so why aren't I called a German American? The thing is the Dems splice and dice with their identity politics seeking a political advantage, period. Get groups riled up on the basis that they are singled out for persecution by the other guy. And it works politically.

But here is the bottom line. Never will the Dems ever be satisfied that any of these wrongs have been been righted. Ever!

Ever get sick of the news? It's so depressing. 17 kids killed in Florida and then the pols have to weigh in before the bodies are even cold. Don't know which is more depressing.

My take, as an old fart, is that our society has been gradually crumbling for many decades.
My dad had a good friend over the years named Doug Robinson. A good guy. As a child I addressed him as Mr. Robinson. Years later, as an adult, when I was in my 40s, when I ran across him I would still address him as Mr. Robinson, not Doug. That's the way it was.

In my younger years when you went to church you wore a suit and tie, or a sports coat and a tie at a minimum. Even the kids. Not so much anymore.

Not sure these example will resonate much with folks now a days, but back then intact families were the norm, we respected our elders, and we never read about 17 kids getting gunned down at school.

Just how old are you John?

I think you're forgetting some major events that happened maybe even before you were born...

some right here in Michigan!

I studied this in Michigan History in Jr. High if I remember it right.

So, you're probably either older than this or you missed school the day it was discussed!

See, it all catches up to us eventually ;D ;D ;D

Even with such horrific modern-day mass shootings as Sandy Hook, Columbine and Virginia Tech, the Bath School disaster remains the most deadly act of school violence in U.S. history.

This article is a few years old but even with all the recent shootings I think little old Bath Michigan still holds the record for worst school disaster in the country.

Old fashion dyn-o-mite worked better than modern high tech weaponry...

and the advantage to the perp is they don't have to be there watching and listening to the carnage they're creating!!!
