Title: MT Fantasy Football League 2016-7 version
Post by: Professor H on May 24, 2016, 02:12:26 PM
Only 107 days to the Season Start!

I sent renew message to all from last year - and they say we have room for 4 more teams!

Let the football season begin - -

I'm in...but still waiting on Fuzz to pay up from last year, lol
Maybe we can do a live draft at Amaya's so he can pay up?

Rough crowd.......I'm heading home this week and expecting to stay in town for another week or so.

Start looking for an evening that works for all next week sometime.

I'm thinking about some Mexican snacks and drinks at that place downtown early next week.

Opps, wrong thread.

A few tacos....  a little football talk....  among other things.....

Not sure who to draft at QB this year now that Peyton retired.

I may have to follow his lead.

Wednesday anyone?
Nothing like a hump day to talk trash and enjoy taco's and a Margarita

...   I have to decide if losing the first 4 games is worth picking Brady -

Cam is good for the regular season - he just can't play in the big games
(never get over the image of him shying away from that fumble)

I can do Tuesday - but I need to know a time so I can rearrange a class meeting if necessary
Monday is out - already have plans

Tuesday is about the only window I have........hopefully it's not the same night MN goes and TP's Gloria and that Sisk guy's house, and film it.

I tried to PM you jerks, but I couldn't figure out how to send the same massage to more than one at a time.

Early evening.......5 to 7, something like that.  I know Brian is probably sitting in a dark closet recounting his savings, daily thing I'd imagine.

LOL!  I'm a lover - not a fighter - you guys know that.

I also think TP is to be used for something better than that....

Too bad everyone isn't as tolerant as I am.

5 would normally be doable - but MDOT has made my evening commute a little slow here lately.  5:30 or 6 is definitely possible.

I'm sure between the several of us we'll Identify each other -

I'll be wearing the bright colored DNC logo shirt
Brian will have bags of $$ over his shoulder
MN will have his laptop and phone both synced up to do his work/err postings of the event
and Fuzz will be the one with two hot babes on either side as he walks in saying smoke em if you got em!

I'll be the last one there - and I know what you and Brian look like!

Just got home.  Maybe 5:30 was optimistic - given the retards I have to commute with that don't know how to drive.

I take that back.  Calling the people I have to commute with retards is too insulting to the....  retards.

I am really sick and tired of "Revive 275."

It also shows everyone autorenewed - but I'd like to make sure everyone is coming back somehow so let me know -

The key is to start early - and the more ridiculous it is, the better.

And then in the unlikely event your players back it up - watch out!

I've done both now regarding the draft.......let the computer do it, and participate in the live draft.  Anybody have more luck one way or the other?

Can one still participate in the live draft and still let the computer pick?  I kind of enjoyed all the trash talk last year during the draft but don't feel that I am as proficient at making my picks as say the computer would be.  I change out players so often that very few position do I have at the end of the season as I did the end of season.

Yes - if you don't pick in the time - I believe the computer picks for you...  and I think the trash talk can only be done through the App - so you'll need your phone as well.

It was a huge letdown last year to win the draft...and not many games! Except the a$$whoopin' I putt on Fuzz, the entire season was a bust!

I agree that drafting on a mobile device was not a good experience!

You just won't let it go!   ;D

I know the grade may not be the best, but I believe I have something I can live with at the start.  Hell, I change so much that most likely 60% of that team will be gone by bye week starts.

Wonder what the draft would look like if there weren't Yahoo rankings or average pick numbers posted? Once past the second or third round, all I would know is Lions players!

(Doubt he'll get much playing time unless they are desperate)

It wasn't the time - but the fact I was "home"...  I won't do that again either :)

I kept getting punted in and out of the server during the draft.

My buddy in Arizona was having the same issue.

I don't think it was my internet connection, but it sure made it interesting come pick time, you had 1 minute left on the clock, and you were hoping you got back in.

After awhile I just started loading up the queue figuring I wasn't going to get the pick it.  It went off the queue a couple of times.  I'd come back online and find out who I got.

LOL!  I just did the back to back QB picks on a lark to see if I could get a run of QB picks going.

It worked!

I forget what player I wanted that had just come off the board....  and everyone else that I was really interested in looked like they would be around a bit later...  so why the heck not.

I also picked a defense way too early to see if the same thing would happen.....  and same results!

I may lose this year over it - but it was fun exercise in sociology.

He came out and said 4-6 weeks because he wanted to make sure it was healed - so I figured I can't carry him through the bye weeks...

I'm hoping Brady Gronk is back!   I need the extra TE points to make up for some other laggards

Kudos!

Right now I'd take free agents who are wife beaters, Luke Davis if he was worthashit, Randy Richardsville, right wing conservatives, left wing liberals, career politicians, murderers, and Jan Jay if they would help me beat BB today!

This would be an opportune time for you to make an outlandish statement about how you are going to whip BB today?

My starting lineup is pretty easy today.

If you aren't on a bye, and you aren't injured, you are pretty well starting!

I'm happy Gronk is back - and my bonus this year since I couldn't get Brady...  I have Blount...   both over their projected points :)    I'm still left with a slight chance depending on if I can sneak 15 points out of Larry Fitzgerald and CJ anderson

I'm starting a Free Agent QB this week that I just picked up.  No one even took a look at him on the waiver wire.  I'm probably going to get killed.

You could have traded AJ Green not too long ago - and had a healthy and resurgent Russel Wilson healthy and ready to go.

I lost McCoy sometime in the First Quarter - so slightly better than you given he was lighting it up to that point - but not much better.

Hoping he is only out just that game.....

I think I'm going to retire so I can go back to watching the NFL - and not watching the NFL - the way I used to.

I don't like how I watch now and start calculating if the team is in FG range - and start hoping they score a TD because the guy I am playing has their kicker.

I also don't like when you have players going against your team - like I do tonight.

I think it's time to let Fuzz have a chance!

Sounds like a person who can't compartmentalize -  but I hope you reconsider by the time they turn on next years league!

While your examples are of conflict - I can counter with the only reason to watch Cleveland vs (insert anyone) ---  was because of the FFleague.

I'm as competitive as the next person, but it takes lots of luck and no injuries to succeed

I can compartmentalize, but that doesn't mean I want to.  Easier to not root for competing interests.

Also - having a "reason" to watch Cleveland play isn't really a wonderful thing in my book.

I have a friend who quit doing Fantasy Football about a year after I started doing it.  His reasons for stopping are just about identical to why I'm tired of it.  He was in the Playoffs every year, and won it often.  He hasn't started it up again.  This tells me he may be onto something.

The first 4-5 weeks this year I was kicking myself in the arse for doing it again.  I am glad it's over.

It doesn't take up that much time and allows for some friendly trash talking and dialog.

LOL - I've been in the playoffs and mostly in the Finals every year and every league I've been in.

How many times did I win the most games and score the most points?

If you think I am being a sore loser - when I am probably the model franchise of success - the Patriots of Monroe Talks - go ahead and think that.

Maybe if there WAS some trash talk I would hang around!

I TRIED to get you and Brian to trash talk - but none to be had!

My reasons are my reasons - but lack of success is clearly NOT the reason.

LOL.....what a blowhard, and I'm saying that kiddingly.

I could see it taking up too much time if you are in more than one league.....this is the first and only I have ever participated in.

and BTW.....me and Brian were doing some trash talking face to face, and in private text messages.  We didn't let you in on it so you wouldn't get a big head and think you had that kind of influence.

I was messin'........I enjoy your participation in this league, it keeps me from venting on Prof!

I don't think I ever mentioned time as a factor.

Glad you enjoy it, and I hope you continue to enjoy it for years.

I think I'm just going to enjoy Football from the angle of watching Michigan run over the B1G, and watch the Lions become a powerhouse in the NFC under their new competent GM.

Maybe start catching some road games again......  that would be the ticket!

Gotcha.....I thought you had eluded to time earlier.  This was my fourth season overall and I agree that it does have an impact on how you watch and monitor games.

Thank you Professor
This has always been an interesting league.Plenty of banter.

Fantasy football is just that... a fantasy. Its something I do for fun, and I don't take it too seriously. I love the game of football but I gave up on the Lions years ago and started following the Browns, a team as dysfuntional as the Lions. That is reason enough to play ff.

LOL  that's my other thread  - who's your second team if you are a Lions fan...

You picked the Browns?   I hope that was long ago - when they were the Baltimore Ravens version!
