Belleville firefighter / EMT missing since June 28th
« on: July 01, 2015, 09:08:51 AM »

They've found his car down near Bowling Green at a rest area.  He most likely had to go through Monroe County 'somehow' to get down there.  Put your memory caps on and try to think back a couple of days...

A bit more info in the video attached to this article.  He has been with the fire department for only 3 months.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department told WWJ the car was located off southbound I-75 between Maumee and Bowling Green. Police said the car was locked and there wasn’t anything unusual, other than no one was there.

Seems to have disappeared in the news as well...

BTW in the picture he's wearing a Huron Twp fire tee shirt, so curious if he was on that dept as well -

He just left work as an EMT so someone in Uniform shouldn't be hard to find?

You have a good eye, Prof.   He is a former  Huron Twp. fire fighter:

Hum,  I usually watch Toledo news and read the Blade
I don't recall any stories about someone being hit by a train in Portage.

I was the Chief back in the mid 90's - still know a few on the department.

I saw this reference to the train pedestrian on the comments section of one of the articles a few days ago,
wondered why it took this long to get out?   Apparently the commentor knew that the rest area was near the train incident.

Just read an article on how EMS managers need to address suicide  - tough thing to do!

I don't recall seeing anything either...  Portage is just south of Bowling Green so not like it's out of our news coverage area.

I didn't see anything that showed exactly where the incident occurred but there is a set of CSX tracks that run north / south less than a mile west of the rest area.

Found this, from June 30:

The crash happened on Main Street and County Home Road around 4:45 a.m. near the North Branch Portage River.

That's always a little frustrating down in Ohio.  We were actually dealing with it yesterday on the way back from the airport.  They love to designate their roads with numbers but refer to them locally by names.  The names don't always show up on maps (especially the online maps)...   makes navigating more interesting sometimes :o :o :o

Does this help at all?   The tracks seem a bit away from here?

The freeways in and around Detroit are just as bad. They all have route designations but are named for important people.  Sometimes it's hard to figure out where you are if you don't know the names.
