This is a really interesting topic.  People in this country are very adverse to change, so I am guessing this poll will mostly reflect the current system at our schools.  I, on the other hand, see other countries having a much higher education success rate and wonder sometimes if having a different system would be beneficial to our students.

I count the days until summer vacation. We as a family enjoy camping and time with each other. I have 2 straight A students who take their education VERY seriously sooo...with their studies and their other interests the school year is sooooo busy so when the writing tools and deadlines are given a break we light up with time to just talk, sing, laugh, camp. We just came back from our first tubing experience and love it.

So, this isn't about NOT liking change...this is about the current system working for us. If it didn't work and a new plan seemed like something that would be helpful then I would vote different. I do know that now they get out of school LATE and I hate it. Their last day was the 14th. I see parents all dreading the date, I see some ready to send them back and I understand some of these parents work so school is a big issue... now they have to find alternate and safe place to keep their children...but, this isn't us.

Now my youngest just started 1st. grade and she went to a different school and was out in May! I was happy! We visited a local farm, visited friends, had lunch...just her and I... and well... it was nice to have just her and i time.

I also attend college in the fall and winter (because kids are in school) and I take my spring/summer semester off to be with them.

Right now we are trying to scrounge up funds to attend Avalanche Bay. :) If anyone knows a great place to vacation in Michigan that is good for families and kids... oh and is a camping site (we don't stay in hotels normally...our Golden Retriever would give us the mean eye...because he LOVES camping) Please let me know...in fact I'll start a new thread so people aren't mad that it's ON THIS THREAD lol.
