When do you do back-to-school shopping?

Parents: there's about six weeks between the time when back-to-school sales start in the retail stores and when most Monroe County students actually start class.
Shop too early, and you're taking the chance that you buy the wrong stuff.
Shop too late, and you're taking the chance that something you need is sold out.
So when do you take your shopping trips for crayons, jeans, sneakers and notebook paper?

As a teacher, I've already started my back to school shopping.  For anyone interested, folders are 5 cents at Office Depot! Target has great sales right now too, and I've heard K-mart has some good sales on notebooks.
