Last night we had New York Strips on the grill, and I went to Ciolinos yesterday, the one on Lewis since I was in Toledo, and picked up what would normally be about $40 worth of produce for around $12.

Took a yellow squash and pan fried it with some sesame oil while steaming some carrots, after they were both done I combined them with some mushrooms and sauteed them for a bit, then added in some scallions.

Picked up some peaches too, and made Peach shortcake, (Instead of strawberry).

Today it will be homemade chicken and beef shish kabobs on the grill.

And OH YEAH! Schultz's has fresh corn on the cob now!  ;D ;D Greatest lil corn stand there is!  Just off of M50 in Dundee, on Wells Rd./Oak St.

We'll be stocking up, cuz their's don't last long (as in bought out).  8)

Do you coat the veggies with anything?

I know someone that uses a oil and vinegar salad dressing and man does that ever taste good.

Typically just a cheap azz Italian dressing out of the bottle.  Coat the veggies in 1 bag, chicken in another, beef in another baggie.  Not really marinadeing, just coating to promote cooking, not scorching.

And if you're using fresh mushrooms, soaking them in Italian dressing helps keep them from falling apart as you skewer and cook them.

But that sounds similar.

Yeah, the oil from the dressing also helps to prevent sticking to the grill.

I also picked up 2 acorn squash yesterday, and want to grill those tonight along with something else, just havent figured out what yet. With it being as hot as it has been, I'll be cooking a lot more on the grill. ;D

Yup, same here, even in the rain so long as it's not a storm.   :P

But then again, I even grill/smoke in winter; just a bit trickier then.   8)

For marinating you can also use  the dry packet of Italian dressing. Then add your own olive oil & vinegar. The seasoning   is very flavorable.

Dave if you shop at Meijers you might want to try the Value Time italian dressing. It is only $1.00 and I think it's very comparable to taste as Kraft or Wishbone is.

With the fresh veggies coming out I also decided to make a veggie pizza. I take the crescents and put them on a sprayed cookie sheet, bake at 350 until light brown. Cool

Then mix 1 8oz. cream cheese with 1/2 cup of ranch dressing. Spread it on the crust then add black olives, shredded Cheddar cheese, carrots, broccoli. I know  some people add radishes & peppers also.
It is very  good.

TY for the tip Ms. Choff

For simple marinates I just use house brands (Meijer's, Krogers, etc.) whether it's Italian or Russian or whatever.  Kroger house brand is frequently 10 for $10 also.  But when it's gonna be on a salad, I buy the "good stuff' (and pay for it as well)!

Russian dressing is a good marinate for tomato based grilling later on, as in BBQ.
