Wanted to share this one because it turned out so well here at the house for lunch yesterday.

I never hear them talked about up here, but Pork Burgers.  I had some fresh sweet basil that I have growing on my deck garden, and got some really good ground pork at Danny's yesterday morning:

Basil & Garlic Pork Burgers

2 lbs. ground pork
3 cloves garlic, mashed
1/2 cup fresh basil, shredded or cut into ribbons
freshly cracked black pepper
kosher salt

a drizzle of olive oil, for frying

Makes 4 monster-sized burgers, or 6-8 smaller ones

Grilled them on med/low about 6 to 7 minutes per side......really kicked ***!

That sounds awesome! We love ground pork, basil, and garlic, so I'm sure we'll love these. I'll show this recipe to H; bet we'll be eating them this week! lol

The Michigan Pork Producers Association had a booth at the fair (they may have it every year but we don't go every year anymore) a few years ago and they were selling Pork Burgers.  We've done them on the smoker grill many times since then.

The Basil & Garlic Pork Burgers sound great.
We have some Thai Basil growing that needs to be used.
I think I'll grind the pork myself.
I ground some beef brisket into burgers Saturday, they turned out fantastic.

I found this when I was looking for pork burger info yesterday...

and my wife mentioned she saw a coupon at work for turkey burgers the same way...

I'm sure either would be good ;) ;) ;)

Quote
Hawaiian Turkey Burgers
1 lb. lean ground turkey
1/2 c. (plus more if you need it) dry bread crumbs
1/2 c. red or green bell pepper, minced (about 1/2 medium bell pepper)
1/2 c. thinly sliced green onion
1 tsp. finely chopped fresh ginger root
1 small can pineapple slices; reserve juice
1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
Thick Teriyaki sauce (like Kikkoman or this recipe)
Light mayonnaise (optional, but very yummy!)
4 hamburger buns

Tonight I had sausage, onion, green pepper, garlic, mushrooms and celery over cous cous.  My belly is full.

I should probably figure out how to use my grill.  Hmmm wonder if it still works after sitting for over a year with no use??

Had one of the new batch of "Solar Dills" with my lunch. Delish. The BLT had tomato & Thai Basil from the garden. Yum.

Dang! Sounds awesome!!

H just gave me a sample of his chipotle refrigerator pickle he made the other day. Amazing depth of flavor! I had no idea pickles could do that!

Gonna make those Solar Dills with the next batch of our pickling cukes. They have blooms all over, expecting a bumper crop!
