Sonata - D minor
« on: November 08, 2008, 10:53:21 PM »

Here's a piece I wrote over the past few days. It's a baroque piece in binary form, using the usual baroque modulation. I went from D minor and modulated to the major fifth (A major) in the first half, ending on the A. The second half starts in the fifth (A) and modulates back to tonic (D minor) where it closes on the D. I figured it would be really hard to get from A major back to D minor, but a nice way opened up.

Here it is ---> http://www.nonstopsportstalk.com/SonataDm.mp3

That is very nice. What was it played on? An electronic keyboard? Harpsichord?

Thanks.

I write them at a keyboard (Yamaha), then I turn it into sheet music using a program called Sibelius, then I save it as midi in Sibelius, which can play the sheet music back, and then I run the midi through a program called synthfont on a harpsichord soundfont and save it as mp3.

I had a dream, and in it this great pale Dragon had its wings stretched out over this forum and people were screaming for one to save them. On the Dragon's head was writtten the word "BOREDOM". So, I came to save you all. By the sword of entertainment I shall fall that cruel fiend!

Sorry, I've been drinking from the cup called "CORNY".  :P

EEEUUWWWW NO NO NO

Funny story...or actually an sick story....

My college roommates dad was a riot....a very off the wall and funny sense of humor.   He was always trying to keep us light spirited and cheerful.  We were always saying we needed treats and snacks for late night studying and he would send us stuff.

One day we went to our mail box and this package came addressed to both of us from him.
He had clipped his toenails and sent them to us so we could at least make toenail soup if we got really desperate.

It was so sick we both laughed so hard we had tears - thinking about him clipping his nails and placing them in this pretty little box...wrapping them and mailing them.
