well it was fun watching the tourney. The USA played very well and got a lot of good press in the states.

Mike, it may have been a tie but for the US to storm back the way they did, while playing down a man, was quite impressive. 10 seconds left in the game and all costa rica had to do was not let in a goal to go to the world cup. Also after the game the US payed tribute to Charlie Davies which I thought was pretty cool.

Down a man? Was it like 7 on 6 or something? My understanding of Soccer is that they just replace guys when they get hurt, not leave a hole in the line-up.

A team only gets three subs at the professional level. The US had used all three and then one of our players tore a ligament in his leg. So the team played a man down.

Oh yeah, I'm bringing this topic back. Time to get some soccer post trolling on.

First up is the MLS finale between Los Angeles and Houston on Sunday. This should be one heck of a game with firepower on both benches. This is David Beckham's last season in the MLS and also his last shot at winning a championship while he is here. I think he knows that this is a make or break moment for his legacy here in the states and I wouldn't be surprised if he is roaming the field with a vigor that we haven't seen out of him yet in his stay here.

One thing is for sure, this won't be your typical 0-0 score. Both these teams really know how to light up the scoreboard and I expect nothing less. Should be fun as hell!

On to the English Premier League!

Things are getting pretty intense in the city of Manchester these days with both of the cities teams sitting on top of the standings. Manchester City F.C. recently dethroned powerhouse Manchester United 6-1 to take the top spot in the league. The biggest surprise this season has been the emergence of Newcastle United who are currently in third place this season. Finally Newcastle has something more to offer than ale!

Lastly the U.S. Soccer team!

The U.S. won their game the other night over Slovenia, a foe we recently battled in the World Cup. The final scoreline was 3-2 with most of the scoring done in the first half of the match. Overall it was a fairly entertaining game.
