USSOCCER26!   :)  :)   I don't know how I missed this thread when you started it, but I have tears in my eyes seeing "you" here!    I am so happy to know you are back.   And what a lovely family you have, too.

Please stay safe wherever you go and keep in touch.   Kind of feel like a granny to you ---- maybe 'cause I'd like my grandkids to grow up to be as responsible and kind?  Enjoy your time home!!!

Oh ....  and the pics were great, too!  Nice to put a face to a name.  :D

Thank you. Honestly I've been trying to dig up as many pics as possible because I would like to document my experiences in the Air Force. It might be nice to look at when I'm older.

And it is nice to be home. I've actually been at my first duty station(Wright Patterson) for about two months now. I spent nine months in Texas and I couldn't wait to come back. :)

Oh yes!   Making an album (photos or digital) will be so special in the future for your children, too!

Looks like there's going to be room for advancement.

Air Force sidelines 17 officers who had control of nuclear missiles
Washington — The Air Force stripped an unprecedented 17 officers of their authority to control - and, if necessary, launch - nuclear missiles after a string of unpublicized failings, including a remarkably dim review of their unit's launch skills. The group's deputy commander said it is suffering "rot" within its ranks.

"We are, in fact, in a crisis right now," the commander, Lt. Col. Jay Folds, wrote in an internal email obtained by The Associated Press and confirmed by the Air Force.

The tip-off to trouble was a March inspection of the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., which earned the equivalent of a "D" grade when tested on its mastery of Minuteman III missile launch operations. In other areas, the officers tested much better, but the group's overall fitness was deemed so tenuous that senior officers at Minot decided, after probing further, that an immediate crackdown was called for.

We were at Craft 2000 tonight and we saw they had quite a few supplies that were military oriented for making a scrapbook.

Regarding your pictures . . .

Using my own history as an example, I want to recommend taking a variety of pictures of the mundane sights and common everyday things around you. Those things might seem boring and uninteresting today, but years from now, as you think about the memories of military life, you'll think about some of that stuff and wish you had photos. If for no other reason than the evolution of " stuff " will make some of it look rather primitive and give meaning to the good old days.

Although I feel I took a pretty good number of photos, there are many things from my years in Vietnam that I missed because since I saw them everyday, they didn't seem photo worthy.

Enjoy your time in the service. It can be a great experience.

What an excellent suggestion, nails!!!   I totally agree----just look at how many things have evolved over our time that we did not expect.

Well it's about the Air Force...which is the branch the OP enlisted in...but you were probably even unaware of that...considering you've never served and seem to have reading comprehension difficulties. The irony is...it's a video...so you wouldn't even have to read.
I'm just thankful you represent the right.  ;)

Clearly you didn't comprehend that the thread was about his basic training experience - not the Air Force per say.

Just saying - you like to say others can't follow a thread.  Perhaps you should look in a mirror?

Exactly right, MN.   This should be  a "happy" thread.   We are proud of our ussoccer26 and hope the thread stays as one of his experiences, not the rest of us.

You two don't make the rules...and it's MN that not only brought his personal grudges to the topic but doesn't know when to stop.

My contribution was merely that of knowledge...of advancement opportunities in the Air Force...and to avoid the "rot" they're having problems with.

FF, I do believe you misunderstood my post, but perhaps I have always given you more credit than you deserve?   I certainly have never tried to intentionally aggravate you or anyone else. I still hope this thread can be more of a tribute to ussoccer's experience than negatives, no matter who is posting.   JMO

(if you don't mind my asking, what branch of the service were you in?   You can PM me if you would prefer)

Gee...given more credit than deserved certainly doesn't seem like an attempt to intentionally aggravate.  8*

Sorry but it's better that I not provide ammunition...no point in feeding the trolls.

No problem, FF.   I understand.   Try to have a nice day.
