That Sprint ad is a pain in the rump!
« on: December 05, 2008, 12:54:08 PM »

Admin -

That Sprint ad is driving me nuts! It pops up unwanted and takes forever to close off despite the many times I hit the close button. GRRRRRRR

Is there any way of getting that one changed or removed?

I know....I could put firefox on and it blocks the ads - but over all I don't mind the ads, and do not want to add firefox.

Thanks (sorry to complain by the way - but grrrrr really... grrrrrr)

Bad you should be clicking the ads!

Did you know Monroe Talks makes money every time you click them?

Not much...but every cent counts.

or (not going to hold my breath)

Ad/Enable the Ad Management System and setup like;

Code: [Select]
<?php
if($group == "Super Hero Talker") {
echo
" ";
} else {
echo
"google ad code here";
}
?>

Bad you should be clicking the ads!

The way I see it, I'm a content producer for their product. I'm one of the reasons people go to the site :P

They might get half a million hits a week, but there's only 20-30 people wiht the bulk of the posts.

Hey gang - is this a pop-up ad? I didn't think these google ads had pop-ups. I can't seem to get it, and I'm using firefox with no pop-up blocker.. I can do some research on it though - let me know.

It's kind of a strange pop up ad, it seems that if you mouse over the ad it will expand, even if you scroll to the bottom of the page it still pops up unexpected and traps you when you least expect it...I just find it frustrating having to hit the back button to come back the the forum, when I didn't want anything to do with sprint to begin with, I already have a sprint phone and they send me enough crap in the mail as it is... :P

They're image ads...and they're not really popups, It's Flash and expands right in the screen.

That's why I use Contextual Text Ads - It pays better.

It's a pain, but I'd rather the advertisers pay and not me lol.

Actually you don't pay, Per Click, Per IP = Money and they have too be unique and if so it means cash.

Google, Inc. pays MonroeTaks per Month (As long it's $100+, Unless they setup their Google Adsense too hold their earnings.

I've made $900 per Month of Ads so it's nice extra income.
