Dry Curd Cottage Cheese - Where can I buy some?
« on: December 20, 2008, 06:11:02 PM »

I have an old family recipe that calls out for dry cottage cheese.  Anyone know of a local retailer who carries this?

Thanks Shep and River.......I did see that site when trying to see if anyone carried it locally.

Certainly drying after rinsing regular cottage cheese in a colander it would be done under refridgeration, right?  This site and another never really specified.

I imagine it could sit out long enough to dry. I thing there would be too much humidity in a refrigerator. ???

A co-worker of mine just went to Toledo last month to a store to get some to make pierogi.
I will email him and ask him the name of the place, but chances are, I won't hear from him til Monday.

There is a store I think it is called Stanley's on Stickney Avenue over where angelo's Spaghetti house used to be years ago... except on the other side of the street... it is east of LaGrange...

Makes sense.....I think I'll give that a shot if I can't find any here in town.

Yes.. I am very familiar with Stanleys.. They make Perogies.. it is a nice neighborhood polish market and as far as I know... you either have to go there or up to the markets in Hamtrammeck to buy things like dry cheese curds...
