Evolution:
1.  A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. See Synonyms at development.
2.
a. The process of developing.
b. Gradual development.
3. Biology
a. Change in the genetic composition of a population during successive generations, as a result of natural selection acting on the genetic variation among individuals, and resulting in the development of new species.
b. The historical development of a related group of organisms; phylogeny.

I do, however, respect your opinion.
:)

I think gradual is the key word here.

Marylin, we are discussing science here so I thought I would use a scientific definition and skip all the other ones that do not apply to biology. I used a definition which simplified it a bit. Let's see the "Biology" one you skipped.

"change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift." -dictionary.com via Random House

Essentially, the genes change over generations as genes which favor an organism to survive to reproduce are carried on. As seen with the hunters and the deers as the small racks are selected.

:D
Okay, I see where you stand.

What about the lack of evidence for genetic shifts?
What about the fact that evolution is a theory?

1: Your not looking for the evidence or just ignoring it.
2: You're using the wrong definition of theory. Let's see other "only theories": Atomic Theory, Theory of General Relativity, Germ Theory, etc.

They are called theories for a reason.

Please, give me what definition you are using because you are not using the correct scientific definition:

1.    a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity.

NOT A LAW.

Theories are actually higher up on the rung then Laws in science.

I do, however, respect your right to your opinion.
:)

You should, because he's spot on in the definition of evolution and BTW, the definition of theory and law in scientific terms...:P

Opinions mean nothing in Science. Your in the Science category. Bring evidence.

Okay, just call it a hypothesis... :P

Evidence of what?! Phenotypic plasticity? I think the article I posted makes a good case for it.

Actually...I haven't actually hear you make a claim whatsoever.

And hypothesis are testable statements. Opinions fall in there if they are testable.
