So by all means, have your little tea party and littering frenzy. Just be sure to come up with a compelling argument that doesn't boil down to:

1) Obama is a Muslim
2) Obama is a Fasisct/Socialist/Bad Dresser
3) Obama is ruining our country
4) Big Government is eeeebil
5) Spending is evil
6) Bring our unregulated market back
7) 35% tax rates are unsustainably high

AND it can easily be argued that the reason we're in this mess now is because the banking sector wasn't properly regulated. That's right, the free market ate itself, as they tend to do without market regulations. What, you thought everyone knew what credit-default swaps were? lol. The BANKS didn't know what they were! But they saw a "sure" thing, that's for sure.

I agree. The regulators were asleep at the switch. I don't advocate more regulations however. Just use the ones we have now, for a change.

I agree. If it turns into a "I hate Obama' rally--nothing is accomplished. Of course, we all would agree that 35% taxation is confiscatory...

So by all means, have your little tea party...

And it only took two hijacked threads to get a statement like that tear-jerker from one of the self-appointed WeNeedSocialismNow! fan club members.  Too bad your buddies won't cease their incoherent bickering about it - or start their own TeaPartiesSuck thread...

A historically low tax rate is confiscatory?

And by historically i mean long term.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax_in_the_United_States#Tax_rates_in_history

In 1918 (4 years after the income tax was established), the top bracket tax rate was 73%. It dipped down to 25% right before the market crash (hrm!) and then spiked back up to 94% during world war 2. Since then it has slowly gone down to about 35% today. As late as 1970 it was 70%.

So you have half the tax rate today as you did in 1970.

Hardly confiscatory, considering the services you get.

What's sarcastic about that? You're arguing against historical data?

Wikipedia isn't an authoritative source for any thing whatsoever.
Americans at one time paid no direct taxes to the government and the country got along quite well doing what it was instituted to do.  It was only when the banksters got ahold of our "elected leaders" that we were put on the road to global Socialism; with the inextricable, extravagant cost of such experimentation to go with it.  A nation of borrowers cannot sustain itself and will implode of its own accord soon enough regardless of how much wealth is confiscated from the people.  Some TeaParty participants will welcome such a result, some will hope to delay that end, but all with their eyes and ears open will rue the day the banksters gained control of our country in order to destroy it.

Again folks I apologize if my announcement of the Tea Party attracted the crazed from Politics to foul the News
section. Come on down and make up your own mind.

John,

It is very sad that one cannot post an event without being attacked, attacked by the very people that claim to be the tolerant ones. I will refer additional comments to the political board.

The way Lordfly, Frenchfry, Shaggy and their friends stalk you on this forum you may want to apply for a cyber restraining order. :o

Really?  We're not saying we're going to do anything.  All we're debating is why you're doing it.  So that makes us un-American and a threat?   I'm a pacifist and I'm not even going to the damn protest.  I just don't get what you guys are complaining about and I'm backing it up with facts......Come on now you've got to be smarter than that.

Wikipedia isn't an authoritative source for any thing whatsoever.

Except when they're sourced from primary sources. Like it is!

Leave me out of any list including FF. I'm merely railing against the political ideas. I'm not insulting your mothers, questioning your patriotism, or pooping on your lawn. Relax, Rush.

Whatever the rate, direct taxation of We The People is de facto wealth confiscation.  Whether it rises or decreases over time is immaterial to the fact that the servants are legally but immorally robbing their masters and it is well within the bounds of reason to demand that it cease and desist. Period.

So that's why you intend to join the Partay but what about you other folks?

I asked the guy that organized this event, per Fox News, but he (John Kopke) was unable to provide a reason.

What are your reasons for joining the "protest"?
