School Security Guard Shoots 15 Year Old "Who Was Not Allowed On Campus"

Juvenile Male Accomplice Charged in Robbery of King High School Basketball Coach
No Charges for Basketball Coach that Acted in Self-Defense
 
On Friday February 1, 2013, at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Martin Luther King High School located at 3200 East Lafayette, a 70-year-old male basketball coach was leaving the school with two female basketball players when he was accosted by two teenage males as he unlocked the door to his car.   As the coach approached the driver's side of his car a 16-year-old male armed with a gun and a 15-year-old male, both of Detroit, approached Robinson and ordered him not to move.  It is alleged that 15-year-old, tugged at a chain Robinson was wearing.  At the same time the 16-year-old pointed a gun toward the two females who were on the passenger side of the coaches car.  The females were instructed by the 16-year-old to leave the area and they ran toward Lafayette and were unharmed.
 
The coach is a Detroit police reserve officer with a concealed pistol license who was armed with  a registered concealed handgun.  While he was being robbed at gunpoint he pulled out his handgun and fired at the 15-year-old and the 16-year-old.  The 16-year-old male was fatally shot and discovered by the police near the scene of the robbery.  It has been determined that the coach acted in lawful self-defense and he will not be charged.
 
"The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will not charge the basketball coach with any crime. This case is a textbook example of lawful self-defense.  The coach is a victim, so we are charging the 15-year-old accomplice in this case. What is left here is absolutely tragic by any standard," said Prosecutor Worthy.
 
The 15-year-old juvenile male in being held at the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). He is charged with two counts of Armed Robbery and two Assault with Intent to Rob While Armed  and will be adult designated. Upon conviciton an adult designation gives the judge three options: 1) to sentence the defendant as a juvenile; 2)  to have a blended the sentence as juvenile and adult; 3) or to sentence the juvenile as an adult.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. at JDC located at 1326 Saint Antoine in Detroit.

The 15 year old's mother or father will sue the coach and the school because he was only admiring his gold chain.

There is a manhunt underway after a gun slinging couple stormed into a tax preparation business.  A security guard was shot and the dangerous duo is on the run.

"Just seeing that footage and knowing that it's two doors down, yeah, I have to get out of here immediately.  It's time to go," said Lillie Heard.

She saw the chilling video of the shootout just two doors down from her home on Kean Street in Inkster.  The house there has been converted into a tax preparation service.  At 2:30 p.m. Thursday, even though a security vehicle was parked in the driveway, Bonnie and Clyde showed up to announce a holdup, but what they didn't know was they were about to get an AR-15 surprise.

The armed couple both had handguns.  Surveillance video shows them being greeted at the door by the receptionist.  The business owner was sitting in a chair against the wall.  The bad guy pointed his gun at the receptionist's head.  The security guard in the office pulled out an AR-15 rifle.  After the shootout, the security guard lunged to the door.

Amanda Collins is a young rape survivor. While in college in 2007, she was raped 50 feet away from the campus police department office at the University of Nevada-Reno and was lucky to get out alive. Her attacker was James Biela, a serial rapist who raped two other women and murdered another. He attacked her at gun point in a gun free zone. At the time of the attack, Collins was in possession of a concealed weapons permit but was not in possession of her firearm due to university policies prohibiting carrying concealed weapons on campus. She was also a second degree blackbelt at the time and walked to the parking garage with a large group of people. Today, Collins did an interview with NRA News host Cam Edwards to tell her horrific story. She explained why Colorado Democratic Rep. Joe Salazar’s comments about call boxes and rape whistles being sufficient self defense for women on campus will only result in more unnecessary victims.

And on Tuesday, after personally lobbying Colorado Democrats to restrict self-defense options, Vice President Joe Biden blithely dismissed a woman’s concerns about family security. He advised her, “You don’t need an AR-15″ — even though it is the long arm of choice of three million law-abiding citizens, half of whom are veterans, law enforcement officers or both.

According to DOJ’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. gun-related homicides dropped 39 percent over the course of 18 years, from 18,253 during 1993, to 11,101 in 2011. During the same period, non-fatal firearm crimes decreased even more, a whopping 69 percent.

The March Pew study, drawn from numbers obtained from the Bureau of Justice Statistics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also found a dramatic drop in gun crime over the past two decades. Their accounting shows a 49 percent decline in the homicide rate, and a 75 percent decline of non-fatal violent crime victimization.

Pew researchers observed that the huge amount of attention devoted to gun violence incidents in the media has caused most Americans to be unaware that gun crime is “strikingly down” from 20 years ago. In fact, gun-related homicides in the late 2000s were “equal to those not seen since the early 1960s.” Yet their survey found that 56 percent believed gun-related crime is higher, 26 percent believed it stayed about the same, and 6 percent didn’t know.  Only 12 percent of those polled thought it was lower.

...what about the notion that tougher gun laws have or would make any difference? With the toughest gun laws in the nation, Chicago saw homicides jump to 513 in 2012, a 15% hike in a single year. The city’s murder rate is 15.65 per 100,000 people, compared with 4.5 for the Midwest, and 5.6 for Illinois.

Yet in the general population, and although the agenda-driven media hasn’t noticed, we can be grateful that gun violence has been trending downward since 1993 when it hit its last peak. Don’t want to credit a rise in gun ownership and concealed carry by law-abiding citizens for this good news? Fine. But then, don’t imagine that gun legislation is the reason or answer either. Leave that illusion to gun-control cheerleaders in the media.
