I'm so excited , my husband ordered me a metal detector for birthday ( which is next month) . It isn't here yet should be here in the next two weeks. I've been wanting on since I was a kid . Can't wait to take my grand kids out on some treasure hunting excursions . :)  been watching and learning off of YouTube , seems to be helpful ... Anyway can't wait to have some fun :)

I will . Think it will be a lot of fun .. My 15 yr old grandson was like " yea ok " , like it was kinda dorky but once he gets to use it and hopefully finds some cool stuff I know he'll like it . My 9 yr old granddaughter thinks she's gonna find the mother load of jewels and strike it rich , lol . Anyway should be fun :)

Sounds like a lot of fun. I like watching the show "Diggers". they're on the history channel. I was watching it the other night and they were looking for a cabin from the Hatfield & Macoy feud. At the end of the show, it was confirmed that they actually found it.

All I ever found was bottle caps and aluminum can pull tabs.  :-\

But I did sell the metal detector on ebay for more than I bought it for.  :)

I have my dad's, he used to use it more along the beaches in North Carolina.   They are better used in areas where you "think" things may be in the first place, otherwise it can be tedious.

I got a good deal at the local Pawn Shop for a metal detector. Now only if some homeowners of historic properties would let me walk around and see what I can dig up.

All this talk of metal detectors is making me envious.  Maybe it is time to graduate from garden tools to my own detector.  What a cool b'day gift, superspice!   Hope you find some great treasures.

I haven't found anything when digging on my property except broken dishes and bricks and  plastic army guys, but I am sure there are coffee cans full of money out there somewhere.  8*

Head down to the Civil War battlefields in WV.

I once worked for a company whose headquarters was in Winchester, Virginia and we would take out customers from the Big 3 out into the battlefields and give them some detectors.  They just thought that was the catsass.
