It was 25 years ago…
1 June 2009, 1:33 pm

Six TCC teams have won state softball championships through the years:

Summerfield, 1984

Whiteford, 1984

Whiteford, 1985

Morenci, 1985

Morenci, 1986

Whiteford, 1987

It’s been 25 years since the first time it happened. That season, 1984, Whiteford won the Class D state title while Summerfield was winning the Class C championship. The next season, Whiteford repeated in Class D while Morenci won the Class C title.

Could this year be a repeat of that fete? Clinton is in Division 3 and Whiteford and Summerfield are in Division 4.

Clinton is having an incredible season on the diamond. The softball team is 36-5 and won its three District games by a combined score of 45-0.

The Redskin baseball team has set a school record for wins and is 31-5.
