30 April 2008, 10:01 pm

When former Floyd man, Roger Waters performed last week at the Coachella Valley Arts Festival, he brought the old inflatable porcine prop out of mothballs to entertain the crowd during “Pigs on the Wing.” Unfortunately the pig really did wing it out of there when it broke loose from it&#...

Happy Birthday Ed Cassidy!
6 May 2008, 8:56 pm

Who is Ed Cassidy you might ask? Ed was the drummer for one of my favorite (underrated) West Coast bands of the sixties; Spirit. Featuring the late guitarist Randy California, Spirit was a staple on FM rock radio with “Nature’s Way,”,” Mr. Skin” and that early ode to th...

Neil Young keynote at JavaOne
6 May 2008, 9:12 pm

Classic grunge-rocker, Neil Young will be the keynote speaker at Sun Microsystem’s JavaOne Conference in San Francisco. What does a musician representing the Woodstock Nation have to do with advancing technology? Good question?

Unreleased Floyd, Bowie and Queen discovered
16 June 2008, 9:15 pm

Okay, it’s not really been discovered. It’s always been there, just the usual legal complications of who owns the release rights. I’m not a betting man, but my guess is it’s not the artist. Regardless, word has it these original unheard recordings by early Pink Floyd (with Sy...

Back by popular demand?
1 April 2009, 9:12 pm

After a nine month absence, I’ve discovered that since I don’t have anything better to do, I might as well resurrect this miserable excuse for music blog. But I’m not alone in the comeback department . . . you can’t fling a broken Stratocaster neck without hitting an old lost...

Jeff Beck plays Detroit in June
21 February 2010, 7:41 pm

British rock legend and guitar-slinger extraordinaire, Jeff Beck is scheduled to appear at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit on June 20. Beck is riding a wave of popularity after being out of the limelight for years. He just won a Grammy for best rock instrumental and completed a short tour of Britain with Eric Clapton. His new album, “Emotion and Commotion” is set to release this April. If you can make the trip to Detroit this June it will be worth it. Beck doesn’t come around to often and he’s the last of a dying breed. And oh yeah, he’ll be playing at Bonnaroo the week before the Detroit show.

Here is on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone with Slowhand.
