I'm glad I live near Lenawee County.  It's about a mile to plowed and salted roads, even the dirt roads are plowed as of this morning.

Haven't seen a MCRC plow truck since last winter and I don't expect to see one this winter at all.  It's a funding thing so they say.  I believe it's more of a not enough funding to fill the empty pockets of the Monroe County good old boy association instead.

Penrod stated in the MEN that they were doing the best they could under limited funding.  I really don't see any difference this year compared to any previous year.  Of course the MCRC is always whining about money.  It's a posture thing, posturing themselves for a road millage, that's it.

Monroe County has always and will always be the butt of jokes about the incompetent snow removal.  This year apparently is no different so far.

We've had a snowstorm recently? I didn't notice. Normally after a snowstorm roads are bad etc. I have yet to run across a road that hasn't been cleared properly within just a few hours.  That's my view from South county anyway.

I saw some county vehicles applying salt to main roads in Bedford Twp before they were rerouted to I75 and US23.  I think that is a new strategy this year.  Get some salt down before they spend the day on the expressways.

You obviously weren't on Lewis or Samaria or Crabb for that matter.

CK, you have to leave the house to check the roads.   ;)  And don't run across the road!  Stop, look both ways and walk.   8*

When the snow was just starting to come down heavy, I headed south on I-275 having just dropped off a package at FedEx near the airport (I like UPS better but HP paid the shipping to recycle a printer)

Anyway I looked for the usually noticeable difference between Wayne County and Monroe County......usually the Monroe side appears untouched.....this year it was the opposite.....the Monroe side appeared to have had several passes by the truck already.

Eventually caught up to the salt spreader, which wasn't easy to do since the truck seemed to be scooting at a good clip.....sure was happy the hammer lane was clear enough to pass since the salt was blasting our vehicle.

I saw a county truck either scraping the road or spreading salt everywhere I went while going back and forth across town.

I don't know what happened but I like it.

Well done MCRC!

I would hardly call 3.5 to 4" of light fluffy snow a "snowstorm".
It is Winter, it is Michigan, suck it up!

For a change I saw a County truck doing our piece of crud dirt road by 2 pm Friday.  In years past we were lucky to get one down here within a week, regardless of snow depth.   Many years it fell upon the locals with tractors to make the road passable in a timely manner.  So kudos to them (at least from me and mine) for this year.   :)

It may have something to do with the need to run a school bus up the road to pick up some kids.  But then again, in the past those buses had to run the road to pick up my kids.   ???

And what's that supposed to mean? lol.

I happen to be on the roads every morning around 4am, and Lewis was pretty well cleaned even at that time.
