I think the producers of the movie should be told about this website, so that they can use the imagery of the intolerance and ignorance of some of the people here.

Mooz-lum, Movie shot in Monroe to be shown on Sunday
« Reply #24 on: April 15, 2011, 02:26:14 PM »

Since it was filmed here and is showing nationally seems odd it's only being shown here this one time :-\ :-\ :-\

Quote
A movie filmed in Monroe in November, 2009, featuring local residents will be shown in Monroe.

The film "Mooz-lum," appearing on screens across the country, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Phoenix Theaters in the Mall of Monroe, 2121 N. Monroe St.

Several area residents appear in various scenes of the film, including more than 20 middle school students. Representatives of the Michigan Film Commission are expected to participate in the only local showing of the movie.

"The Monroe community opened its arms to us to help us with locations and people when we were here shooting for a couple of weeks in November, 2009," said Qasim Basir, writer and director of the film, in a press release.

"We are looking forward to showing the film here and letting everyone see Monroe on the big screen. I hope that by showing a film that was done here, by people from here, we can potentially have an impact on the film incentives staying here."

The film features several Monroe locations, such as Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Motherhouse on W. Elm Ave., the cafeteria at Monroe County Community College, a private residence in Monroe and the former Lincoln Elementary School on E. Third St.
