War and Truth (Where Do Wars Come From)
« on: December 16, 2009, 06:59:14 AM »

Jam 4:1 ¶ “From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? Not hence of your lusts that war in your members“?

As with most other teachings this one has a duality of subject; yet both the subjects concern the overall topic “ Where do wars come from“. The first will be addressed initially and that will invariably lead into and address the second of its own convocation, with a minimum of additional explanation.

What constitutes a ‘member’? Part of a whole?  Simple enough right? Then why do very few understand this teaching?
Here’s the clarification; the very next verse:

“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not“
.

“Ye ask not”
Can one ask via his arm, his leg, foot, or even toe or finger? No. Why not? Cause that’s not where your brain / mind is. Where’s your brain / mind? Is it not in your HEAD? Is it not within the mind that a question or request is formed, detailed, modified, and issued from; expressed through the vocal cords if spoken or via the mind itself if not?
(( those who understand the correlation between the Heart and the Mind in forming desire [lust] which is the origin and a facet of thought should have a bit more insight on this ))
Of course it is. When was the last time someone who had an extremity amputated lost the ability to think or ask questions or make requests? Never. Unless decapitation occurs, in which case the point is further proven by the fact that the person dies mentally in not physically.

So, the word  ‘members’  here is in one sense code. Code for the head, specifically the mind. (( again, those who understand the heart / mind correlation will understand more in depth; but this is focused more toward those who possess no such understanding )) Plug that into the teaching:

Orig:
“From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? Not hence of your lusts that war in your members“?

Clarified:
“From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? Not hence of your lusts that war in your mind“?

Lets go one step further, without altering the intent but simplifying the words:

“From where [come] wars and fightings among you? Not from your desires that war within your minds “?

Nothing here has been altered nor changed, merely clarified; perhaps decoded is a better term.

Nothing that is except for the understanding, which now should be clearer.
I mentioned before that there are two (dual) subjects to this topic. Here’s the second; which should expound upon the first and bring the issue into clearer focus still.

The word ’members’ is a word of duality, indicating that it has not only a definition but meanings as well. It is also a word of plurality, indicating more than one. Words of duality can be used to express or infer BOTH a Spiritual meaning (( primary )) and / or a physical / secular (( secondary )) meaning. Such is the case here. The primary deals with the mind, which is Spiritual in nature; while the secondary deals with the secular as it relates to the Spiritual.

What is the secondary? The obvious; it can’t be indicative of parts of the human body, arms, legs, fingers etc., BUT it can be indicative of parts of the Church (( remember: the primary / Spiritual )) and of humanity (( the secondary / secular )) as a whole. What is the Church comprised of? People, individuals. What is Humanity comprised of? People, individuals.

Lets plug it in and see what we get:

Orig:
“From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? Not hence of your lusts that war in your members“?

Clarified:

“From where [come] wars and fightings among you? Not from your desires that war within each individual’s mind “?

Or

Where do wars and arguments and disagreements among you come from ? If  Not from your desires that war within the minds of each of you “?

Whoa. THAT says a LOT. But lets go on step further. Lets break down  “lusts / desires”.

What is ‘lust’, what is ‘desire’ ?

“Desire“:  the craving, appetite, longing, or powerful wish or passion to obtain, achieve, realize, or enjoy something

“Lust”:  to desire strongly, unlawful or excessive covetousness, to covet, express or feel powerful desire to obtain, enjoy, experience, or realize something sought after wantonly, excessively, or without restraint, have passion for or toward something or someone.

So how does lust or desire war within the mind ?

“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not“
.

From not being able to achieve, realize, or obtain that which each individual hopes (lusts, desires) after.
Is there any indication that what is being discussed is sexual in nature? Nope.
However, this teaching is contained within a broader discussion concerning the conduct of those comprising God’s Church. God’s Church is described symbolically as the Bride of Christ, hence those who are a part of that Church or who aspire to be so fall under that symbolism as well. It is within this symbolic context that this teaching (understanding) is presented; which is why the terms ‘adulterers’ and ‘adulteresses’ are used in verse 4.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God“.

‘Friendship of the world’‘friend of the world’. Lets look at these two phrases. How does one choose his / her friends? Does one choose for friends those who think and act contradictory to one’s own thoughts and actions? Nope. Why not? Because there is NOTHING in common between them. Back peddle a moment… HE said ’friendship’ and ’friends’   did He not? WHAT is KEY to being in a friendship with another or others? Do not all have to think alike? And what is involved with thinking?  Is it not the MIND? It sure isn’t the arms, feet, legs, or toes is it?

In order to be in friendship with the world or friends with those of the world one must think in accordance with those who comprise the world, not contrary to them.

What are thoughts? Are they not the principles which identify each individual as being who he or she is and what each individual stands for and basis his actions and reactions on? Yes they are. Can thoughts be false in nature? Yes they can. Can they be true in nature? Yes they can. Each is based solely upon that which the individual has chosen to substantiate it upon; whether it be truth or fiction.

Does God not instruct each individual to substantiate his or her thoughts according to TRUTH and hold onto those which are found to be true and abandon those which are not? Yes He does; 1 Thes. 5v21. Besides that, its just plain good reasoning to do so.

What are thoughts not based upon truth?  Opinions.  Opinions, being principles, (albeit false), still form the base identity of each individual. Those principles are reinforced with emotions; both of which lead to actions; actions lead to counter-reactions; and there you have it  WAR. Whether the battles be verbal or physical the result is the same; WAR.

And there people, is where wars originate; within the opinions of each individual’s mind.
If everyone spoke with truth everyone would THINK with truth; there would be no disagreement simply because there would be nothing to disagree with; hence there would be no WAR.

Two cannot walk as one unless they be in agreement. Friends cannot be friends unless they are of the same mind. A husband and wife cannot be a family unless they be in agreement.

This is the New Language (tongue) you will learn to live according to or die by in the coming world. This is Truth.
