MCCC RRT Program
« on: November 11, 2009, 08:46:14 AM »

I have a few questions in regards to MCCC Registered Respiratory Therapist program.  I've heard it is pretty competitive and also that there is a waiting list.  Is this the case?  I have (2) more classes to take before applying to the program and I have no idea what to expect.  I would love to think I have a good chance of acceptance the first go around, but I just don't know.  Does anyone have any experience with the program?  What the average number of points are that garner acceptance?  If there is a waiting list, how long?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

I had to look at the thread just to see what the RRT meant...

It is not uncommon for schools to have a waiting list in some training programs.

When our oldest daughter was considering going into a Physical Therapy program many years ago the school told us there was a waiting list...

Being the ever thinking entrepreneur and very aware of the old "supply and demand" theory...   I asked the dept. head why don't you just add more classes then...

The answer...

If you train too many then the wages for all will go down...

truly supply and demand I guess...

She went into a different field rather than wait.

Good luck to you RentedMule...

I just started the nursing program there and if it works the same way (which I'm pretty sure it does) you apply for admission and 30 people get in for that year.  If you don't, you have to reapply the next year. There is no waiting list.  Go talk to the dean of the program.  She'll know.  She's really nice. I had to take CPR with her.

For RT you want to talk to Bonnie Boggs. And/or pick up a course catalog and meet w/ an admissions counselor in the A bldg

& FYI the nursing program accepts 60 applicants a year (30 fall + 30 winter)

Best wishes

Yes I know that. I was referring to the RT program only having 30 seats.
