Guess what? Obama's free health care ain't FREE!
« on: January 05, 2010, 08:21:00 AM »

Like anyother good socialist / communist policy the deeeeeeetails are seeping out about Obama / Dingel care.

Subscribers of the mandated policies that have a so called "Cadillac policy" will be forced to pay a 40% tax. Let us see how this works!

A Cadillac health plan is a plan who's cost is = or > then $8500 per year or plan year.

The average house hold plan equals about $13,500.00.

So that being said, $13500 - $8500 = $5000. This is a bad thing for the "rich"people, why? Well now multiply that $5000 X .40 = $2000. This is the "tax" you will be paying on your free health care.

Don't worry, if your employed and receive coverage thru your employer they will payroll deduct this amount, you won't even miss it.

If your self employed, man I feel for ya! If you currently have no insurance and your forced to buy into a government sponsored health care plan, well good luck, the Mayo Clinic is going thru a "trial" run to eliminate Medicare patients, they are too costly. I think I see a pattern here!

Sure it'll seem to be "free," 1Rep: the sheeple will just be "paying their taxes" or (what they refer to as) their "fair share" which is the same thing as putting money in the bank to them.  You know, like "saving for a rainy day," or "...in case I get terminally ill..." so it'll seem like it's "free" when they try to make a withdrawal.  Hopefully that "bank" will be open that day, eh?

Duh....healthcare will never be free.....the money has to come from somewhere.

I'm an advocate of the single payer system.....profit shouldn't be the primary focus.

Every time the subject of "You just want free health care" came up, I replied that what was wanted was affordable health care. Then came the retorts of "yeah, which for you is free".

Whatever.

The only ones who were lauding it as a "free health care" system, has been the extreme right, who never know what the hell they are talking about anyhow.

This thread just proves my point.

BTW, where did you get your information from? I think it is faulty.

Lawmakers are still grappling with what premium price is considered "gold-plated." The legislative outline proposed by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the Finance Committee, sets the threshold for most people at $8,000 in premiums for an individual and $21,000 for a family. It is estimated that between 2 and 3 percent of covered workers and families would hit that threshold today.

Well Brian Lamb of C-Span in a letter dated 12/30/09 addressed to Reid, Pelosi, Bonier and McConnel requesting that the negotiations on the Health Care Bill between the House and Senate be televised. He mentioned how President Obama and those in the House and Senate had called for transparency and mentioned the need for historical record of the proceedings.

My confident bet is that President Obama and Company will reject, or ignore, this request. I understand. With the majority of folks already under the impression this legislation is a convoluted mess, they certainly don't want to give the public an opportunity to see it is even worse than they thought, much less have it be recorded.

I read last night that the Democrats are just going to hold informal talks and bypass the traditional House-Senate conferences.

The Republicans have shown no desire to compromise or do anything other than grandstand and stall, so excluding them is probably a good idea.

The party of “no” will probably hear that familiar word echoed back at them.   They’ve had their chances to cooperate.

You know what they say, “Lead, follow or get out of the way.”  By choosing “none of the above,” the Republicans have no choice but to get run over by the steamroller.  Serves them right.

Well if profit isn't the motive there won't be any doctors in 20 years. The motivated people will find a different line of work.

TMT:
So I guess during the campaign when Obama said Health Care would be on C-Span it was a throw away line. Here you have a
historically significant (up there with SS and Medicare) program and its going to be put together in "informal talks", or in other
words behind closed doors, hidden from the public.

Republicans willing to compromise? Well they wanted tort reform, insurance sold across state lines etc. and everything
they proposed was rejected out of hand. So where would they
begin the compromising? Government pays only 50% of abortions. Only Illegal aliens eligible if their last name begins with
A-K? How about if the plan kicks in this year rather than 2014?

Yep, because all the doctors I know have dollar signs for eyes and prescribe the most expensive options possible to milk their patients.

to them the Hippocratic Oath is something you sing to Hippopotamuses.

I wanna Hippocratic Oath for Christmas... only a Hippocratic Oath will do...

It couldn't possibly be because some folks want to actually help people, would it?

If you had watched C-span during the last, I dunno, six months, you would have seen the health care "debate", which was mostly Republicans trying to filibuster, whine, and vote no.

It was quite illuminating.

So are you saying that because the (R) were whining the public should not be allowed to watch their governent go through the
process of enacting a piece of legislation that will have a significant impact on their lives?
