Sunshine but through some clouds.

We're seeing several red wing blackbirds and my wife saw a Baltimore Oriole yesterday.

Been having Orioles on the sun flower seed feeders for a while now and they are trying to get into the hummingbird feeders too.  We have a huge variety of birds here this spring.  Must be they all know we have 4 feed stations.

The storm came through as predicted...

either it wasn't that bad or I was really sleeping good.

The dog did jump in bed with us but then got back down all by himself.

If our big black dog jumped in bed with us, it would be something.  Probably break the innerspring.

If you have Orioles around, put out a plate with some grape jelly.
It’s like crack to them. Orange color (as in plate ) is supposed to attract them.
We’ve been feeding 2-3 pairs for about 2 weeks.

I thin CL is getting a feeder, I think.  Sunshine today (welcome) rain again tomorrow.  Farmers have an issue going on.

The neighbor has a few orange colored feeders hanging and nailed to his trees when he cuts up oranges ea day and some with jelly.  I haven't seen any Orioles yet this year

Lots of cloud cover today but the sun is peeking through at times.

A solid breeze blowing in from Lake Erie.  Warnings out for shoreline flooding today!

Finally got my zuchini and red and green pepper starts in, in the sandy loam in the upper patch today.  No way can I put in anything else, just too wet yet and it's raining right now.

I'd like to plant potatoes but it's too wet and sweet corn is out of the question.  All the early planted fields around here... the seed is rotting.

Going to be a banner year for mosquito's and ticks.  The big black dog picked up one already on one of his walks (I walk him close to a mile in the morning and again at night).  He likes to meander through the grass on the roadsides and splash in the water.  Have to keep watching him for hitchhikers I guess.

It's going to be the middle of June for me this year. I'm going away for a couple of weeks and don't want to plant before I leave

No cukes this year.  Last year was cuke city.  I ate cukes until I was counting cukes to go to sleep (instead of sheep...lol).

Lots of green beans and Brussels sprouts (if I can get them in that is).  Sweet corn is no issue, the germination to mature time is pretty short on the SU varieties and beans are good too, but the sprouts take a while, like, after the first frost to pick.  They actually get better to pick in early winter, better flavor.

Really need to get the potatoes in.  My seed spuds are growing nicely in the garage on the table.  Problem is, when they tuber out of the ground, they eat up the nutrients in the potato and that causes them produce less new potatoes.

No tomatoes either.  CL canned dozens of jars of tomatoes and they are so cheap in the store, not worth dealing with.

We need sprouts and green beans and cabbage for Kraut.  This is a kraut year for us.  Got some purple cabbage and white too.  If I don't have enough, I'll get a hamper full from Randy Dusseau or his dad.  They always have tons in the cooler.  I bribe them with homemade sauerkraut.

Zuchini's are for Joyce's market (John Chandler).  His mother in law takes my ball bats and makes bread from them and John sells it at the market.  We get his heirloom garlic and Amish jelly in trade.  All good for us.

Wish it would dry up for a while.  I have hay that needs cut too.  I need to get first cut off and let the alfalfa come in.

We are going to Maine in August for a couple weeks with the RV.  First vacation in 20 years.  Not too sure about our new 'kid' coming along though.  Hard to find acomodations when you have a huge black dog that looks nasty mean but is really a big baby....  literally.

The wind has calmed down this morning.

We took a ride to Bolles Harbor yesterday after lunch.  The water was already starting to recede.
