'Miss Me Yet?' Billboard With Photo Of Bush Is Real; Not An Internet Trick

Internet chatter had led to speculation that it might be an urban myth -- nothing more than clever digital trickery spreading via the Web.

But our friend Bob Collins at Minnesota Public Radio assures us he's seen it with his own eyes:

There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: "Miss Me Yet?"

Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.

Bob says there's no readily apparent claim of ownership on the billboard, so he's heading back to the scene to see if he can find out who's behind the message. He's also got some local politicos looking into it. He'll keep us posted.

At first glance, it would seem to be from some person or group who isn't thrilled by President Barack Obama's performance so far -- unless it's a more ironic message from those who didn't think too much of Bush and want to remind voters about him.

Anyone out there know anything about where it came from? Tell us and we'll pass the word to Bob. As he says, we could do a little crowdsourcing.

Update at 1:10 p.m. Feb. 9: No news yet on the person behind the billboard, so to speak. But Bob went by and took his own photo of it, so we're now using his shot above.

A lot of movies shoot in Minn. I'm guessing that it's for a movie, and just no one said anything about it.

Just a guess though.

I recall a few MT right-wingers brought that same image up and expressed that they truly missed Bush so maybe someone shares that same mindset.

All it takes is one moron with money to waste on a billboard

Anybody capable of logical thought would understand the reasons behind the popular opinion that Bush was the worst President ever.

I don't think there are that many supporters of Bush left but the few that remain are very vocal....I suspect they feel a sort of kinship with him since it's not everyday such an ignorant person can steal an election.

I suspect it may be more of a "starting to look better by comparison" situation Fry.

Bush was the worst President of my lifetime, Obama is in the running.  I hate asparagus, but when presented with brussel sprouts... I'll take the asparagus.  Mind you I would not order either.

It's ludicrous to think along those lines but stranger things have happened.

"Office manager Beverly Master of Schubert and Hoey (hoy) Outdoor Advertising in Minneapolis says the message was purchased by a group of small business owners and people from the Twin Cities area who want to remain anonymous."

It isn't that ludicrous, I think we have elected several Presidents by choosing between the lesser of two evils.  JMO!

That's why I voted third party this year.  I had to vote with my conscience.

And some good may come out of all this if things continue down the road as they have.

Obama moved to the center and the right has always been wrong....a third party candidate may do quite well the next time around.

I certainly wouldn't miss the duopoly.

Not a fan of Socialism...I tend to like those that favor socially responsible policy.

'til then, Obama must move back toward those that voted for him....he's alienated his base.
