Doesn't matter how much ground the guy can cover if he doesn't have the arm to throw it once he gets there. This is just a move to try and get another big name in a Tigers uniform and sell some more tickets. We do need a big hitter from the left side of the plate but this is just another over priced veteran on the downside of his career. Couldn't we have kept Polanco for 8?

Pass. They could make better use of the 7M if they kept it.

Damon has some ability but really 7M? 3-4 seems more in line with his ability and skill set at this point in his career.

I'm with ya Billy.Like it or not trading Grandy and Jackson and signing Valverde and now possibly Damon? What the hell is Dombrowski doing?

If they are looking for a washed up LH bat I know they could sign Blalock or Branyan for less $'s. And for one year!

Yup, and I'm with you I'd rather have Russell Branyan anyways at least the guy has some vesatility at where you can field him.

Billy, you will happy to know the Tribe agrees with us as they just picked up Branyan. ......1yr. 2M. Hummmm, I thought he would be an ideal LH bat. Could play 1st,maybe 3rd if they were desperate,DH a couple times a week.Oh well.

Yep, and our top GM has confirmed the Tigers have definitely made Damon an offer. Just a matter of time I would think.

1 Year $8 million was the final contract, which was accepted.

It's not like they signed him to a 5 year deal.  lLighten up.  Maybe the Tigers won't be so damn boring.  Damon played in over 140 games, scored over 100 runs and had 80 RBI and batted 282.  He was in a lineup where he wasn't ask to win the games.  And the man can still play the field.

Yeah but he has a noodle for an arm and hes playing in a bigger ballpark.  I bet his HR's go down dramatically which accounted for a fair portion of his RBI's.

the tigers overpaid again. he is not a good outfielder and he has the weakest arm in professional baseball. 100 runs and 80 rbi's playing on the highest paid and most talented team in baseball. plus new yankee stadium is a launching pad. no other team offered more than 4 million a year. they definitely overpaid. the best thing about the deal is it is only one year. jmo

of course he is a good hitter, but he is past his prime and not worth 8 million a year!

His HR's will drop significantly, he played in the most homer happy park in the bigs last season, that means his runs and RBI's will drop. And there is no way he can play center in Comerica, way to much ground to cover. So he'll end up in left or DH'ing.  Way to much money for a DH, and we had a good LF already.

They way overpaid, compare his stats with those of Russell Branyan who was signed for 1 year two million. Pretty comparable except for the runs scored category which can be attributed to the differences in playing for the Yankees and the miserable Mariners. I seriously question our GMs current decisions.

I don't know what you guys have been watching but Damon can play the outfield better than anyone Detroit has had lately.
