Nobody liked them except for me and the wife, it seems. They had really good traditional tacos.

Damn, i would have liked them then.  Being stationed in San Diego I developed a taste for traditional Mexican food.

I tried them a few times, decent food, good traditional tacos but terrible service. The waitress never greeted us when we entered, couldn't smile and barely even said thanks. We also had to go to the register to get our bill. Sorry, but customer service is key.

Monroe is a very strange market for restaurants.  People flock to Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel and rave about worse-than-mediocre places like Lafiesta.

Fortunately, we are close enough to Toledo, Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit that we have tons of decent choices within an hour’s drive.

Sorry to see Nena's close, always had good food there although their tacos were a little on the small side.

Can't remember the name of the one by Save-a-Lot but their food was good with nice size portions but they just could,t draw the customers I guess.

We went there once. Their menus were disasters in the English language and they didn't have hot sauce. NO HOT SAUCE. The food was bland.

Actually, most Mexican food around here is pretty damn bland. Nena's was the only one I found that comes close to more traditional Mexican fare; flavorful, greasy, and full of fresh veggies.

People seem to enjoy the places that just give them LOTS of food, as opposed to good food. It's a shame.

Grande Lagos has very good food. It beats all the others hands down. They have authentic dishes that you won't get elsewhere, or the traditional like the rest. If you have not tried it, do so. You won't be disappointed.
As for Nena's...dog food! Actually more like goat food, since if a goat will eat a can then it may be able to stomach what they called food.

Frankly I'm a big fan of Vaqueros Polla a la diabla.  Not enough heat but tasty nonetheless.

If I'm not mistaken the literal translation is "chicken of the Devil". I'm reckoning it's supposed to be extremely spicy.

I have also wondered about the local affection for La Fiesta I think that their food is awful.
