Thanks, Skit. There wasn't as much mess as I thought there'd be. My little girls are growing up!

I've always been mess-friendly with kids. I remember that making messes as a kid was about as fun as it could get! Think of all the fun stuff: homemade bubbles and wands, homemade play dough, dying fabric with food, that weird stuff made with cornstarch and water, making confetti, tie dying clothes, planting seeds in foam cups, potato stampers and paint... and of course, GLITTER!  :o

I figure if I let them create fun messy memories, they can't grow up and tell me I was a bad Mom!  ;D

I think naming this person and where he works is unbelievably cruel.   >:(

If you were so moved to address the issue, perhaps a more thoughtful and considerate thing to do would have been to put your thoughts to paper and discreetly send a letter (anonymously, to avoid divulging your precious identity . . .. something you did't mind divulging about him) to the supervisor/manager of the place of business.

But to post it all here, including his name, is very cruel.

Not surpising.  Just cruel. >:( >:( >:(
Not absolutely sure his name was Mike....but emulating the Peanuts character "Pig-Pen" isn't something one would expect of an employee of the traveling Red Cross blood drive crew.

I'm not even sure my complaint could prevent any future problems such as sepsis but at least it's not something that'll fall upon the deaf ears of just one Red Cross person where the buck would likely stop.....especially when I have you to thank for allowing me to reiterate the pertinent points.
No brd.  You're wrong this time.  That post was wrong and should actually be deleted.  In fact, if the "poster"  8* had any class or conscience, he would delete it.

You know, there are those who can pop on here and defend the resident bully or "chastise" those for posting this and that in whatever thread that goes against their grain with absolutely no response or implication of needing popcorn.

Go pop your popcorn I guess, but don't respond to the point.  It might ruffle some feathers.

JMHO

There.  You wanted drama?  Go get your popcorn.

The day is too beautiful.  No room for MT today.
Gee, you righties attack me at every turn and yet have the gall to insinuate that I'm the bully.  8*

Not to mention your feeble attempt to recruit others to your cause.

Simply pathetic.

Was the cornstarch & water like silly putty or more like paper mâché?  That was new to me.  Have you made plaster handprints that they can paint?  Mine did this when they were very little, and they hung on my walls for many years.

I still love making dirty messes in my garden...the dirtier I get, the happier I am!  I bet you have happy girls!

The cornstarch stuff is solid one minute, like if you try to grab a fistful, but then if you move slowly, it's a liquid.

I can't wait to play in my garden dirt! I've been obsessing over seed catalogs and what new things I'm going to grow this year for the past few days. I've got a spreadsheet and everything! lol I guess I "Geek the Garden" according the the MCLS awareness campaign! ;0)

Cool sounding stuff.  I'll have to try it with the grandkids.

One of my favorite gifts from hubby was a set of really good hand tools (rake and trowel) for the garden, ENGRAVED with my initials.   Boy, was he teased at work for buying such an impersonal gift; they just didn't understand that this made me happier than almost anything.  Another great tool is my circle-hoe.   I loved the hand one so much that I hunted all over to find the one with a long handle.  Fabulous!

Alas, I may be cutting one of the gardens down by about half--the puppy thinks it is her mud-run :-\.  But I am always digging somewhere. So I'll enjoy the change.

Check it out at circlehoe.com.   The only place I found it (other than through their website) was Downtown Home & Garden in Ann Arbor.

I found it online, but the long handled one is out of stock!  :'(  I did find some 'copycats' at Amazon that had good reviews. Genius tool!

I think that's awesome that your hubby got you engraved garden tools. He knows how to keep you happy! Good on him!

Here's a link to the cornstarch stuff. It's also called Oobleck. This page shows how a solid lump of the stuff will 'melt' into liquid right in your hand. Little kids love it, and while it is messy, it cleans up easily. http://blog.kidzui.com/2011/06/kids-science-magic-mud-recipe-cornstarch-suspension/

Keep checking, it should come back soon.

Thanks for the link to the Oobleck!!   We definitely will try it this summer!   Enjoy your day :)

LOL are you talking about Angelina's infamous leg? I almost posted something about it earlier. There's an amusing set of mash-ups involving that leg!  ;D

It's just strange--even for her--to be 'striking a pose' at every opportunity. I wonder if they were just messing with the photogs? At least she looks healthier than I've seen her in a few years. She looks very slender, but healthy, as opposed to skeletal like she was there for a while.
