Fry, the only time I smoke is when I drink.  Its BS that I can't step outside, with my drink, to have a smoke.  The law went too far when it banned tobacco OUtSIDE.  Of this was a public health issue there would be no exemptions for casinos or they would have outlawed tobacco outright.  This is just another way for LE to harrass private clubs and individuals

WRITE MY REPS&THANK THEM FOR FINALLY PASSING THIS LONG OVERDUE BAN!!WENT OUT LAST SATURDAY&CELEBRATED&CAME HOME&DIDN'T HAVE TO DECONTAMINATE BECAUSE OF LOSER SMOKERS AND THEIR NASTY HABIT

I'm quite sure that if you wrote your letter in the same format as this post, it did nothing to support your cause.  Congratulations.

Next time, try Googling these two words before you post:

"Capitalization" and "Punctuation".

Then take a look at "Word spacing".

Better yet, go back to school and learn how to write.

It looks like both parties are responsible. I guess I'll have to write to my reps to thank them.Of all the issues out there, I can't believe the way Shag is reacting.....and willing to commit the ultimate sin....leaning toward the Repukes....it's starting to sound like a crackhead that'll do ANYTHING for a rock.
WTF  ???

In one sentence you say both parties are responsible (which I agree).

Then you say that Shaggy, in opposition to the smoking ban, is leaning towards the Republicans.  So did the Republicans halt their support for the ban sometime between your first sentence and your second?

At risk for banishment for replying to you...(one of the moderators is a moron)...thank you for exemplifying the typical right-wing reading comprehension problem.

The Michigan Senate has a Republican majority....the smoking ban couldn't have been passed without them.

So basically your last question should have been directed to Shaggy.

Don't have a cow, Fry.  I just asked a question.  Sheesh!

It's ok if you don't want to answer it.  No biggie!

And I don't need to ask Shaggy anything.  I understand his posts perfectly.  I do NOT think Shaggy is leaning towards the Republicans, by any stretch.  His comments are simply the result of a deep desire for personal freedoms.

I have no problem with that line of thinking.

Maybe the law you should go after is the one prohibiting you from removing alcohol from the bar's premises, i.e:  Outside their patio.

As for harassing private clubs and businesses.  You have that twisted as well.  Casinos were exempted because the state has no jurisdiction over the Indian casinos so rather than lose tax revenue to the Indians, they will let all of the nicotine addicts keep lighting up and blowing money in the casinos.   Simple economics.

I, like many others, don't give a flying f*&^ what you do to yourself, but I am damn glad to step into our locals pub and grubs and not smell that vile stale smoke any longer.

Anyone in favor has my vote.  IThe day that L. Brooks Patterson caves to public pressure, oh wait, it just happened.

Get used to it.  It's the law.

As I have pointed out many times before, the amount of carcinogens I release into the air is nothing compared to the average person.  Just because I like to have a smoke when I drink makes me a second class citizen to you?  That's crap and you know it.  You at least had a choice in the manner.  You could have opened a bar that was non smoking.  You didn't. you were lazy and let the government do your work for you.  I will NOT get used to this law.  I will do everything in my power to get my rights back.  Until then there are going to be some bartenders that will miss the fat tips I leave them.  Get off your high horse Tell.

Hey Shag,
If you wear one of those astronaut helmets maybe you can smoke all you want. Maybe one that'll recycle the air and filter out all the pollutants that you blow out.  I'd like to see that ~ a bunch of people walking around looking like space aliens. Boy they are smokin'.

I only smoke when I drink so unless I could get a helmet big enough to handle a Churchill and scotch it won't happen.

Yeah but the pot shouldn't call the kettle black, especially when the kettle is smaller.

Dear Michigan Representative,

Smokers kill people. Thank you for keeping their nasty habit away from me.

Love,

Exactly, economics.  No jurisdiction over the Indian casino's, and a hole lotta cash coming from the other casino's.  Ban it in the regular casino's and a hole flock of gamblers that smoke go to Indian casino's.

But continue to tax the cr*p outta me, use it in the general fund (not the anti-smoking fund, the health care fund, or even the educational fund) and then tell the business owner that's trying hard to retain/establish a customer base how to run their business and get some of their tax dollars, and those they employ.

Freakin' hypocrites.

Fred, I hate to break it to you but car exhaust kills more people than second hand smoke.  What do you say we ban those?
