Remember back when we tried to figure out what the bright spots were along the north coast of Alaska...

well, if you look at the coast in the picture above and go to the right the last bright spot is a casino! 

Last time I was there I turned around in their parking lot 8* 8* 8*

I saw them for about 10 hours one night from a 747 on a plane ride to Japan.

It almost made the 12 hour Northwest flight delay all worth while.

Got some awesome pictures....  but danged if I can find them.

They just mentioned on 13ABC News that the northern lights might be visible tonight!

Too damned cold for me to stand outside and look for them though!!!

I've seen them quite a few times so I'm passing on this one ;) ;) ;)

Looks like the clouds should completely clear around 1:00.

Hopefully by that time I'm sound asleep, waiting for the blonde, or even the one that buys into your line BRD!   ;D

Sky watchers in Europe are reporting bright auroras. Ruslans Merzlakovs sends this picture from Nykøbing Mors, Denmark:
A very bright Aurora just splashed in the afternoon sky at 9 P.M. danish time in Denmark, Nykøbing Mors. I have been checking night sky for anything special durig the last few monthes, but tonight, finally i got lucky.
Image details: Canon EOS 7D, 30 seconds, f/3.5, ISO 1600, 8-15mm fisheye.

Notice the big dipper in the picture.
