Your Oil/Gas Dollars at work...
« on: November 13, 2007, 02:25:47 PM »

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - In the annals of excess, it could be a new high: a more than $300 million dollar, super-sized luxury airplane, bought and outfitted solely for the private comfort of a Saudi Arabian billionaire.
Once done, the Airbus A380, the world's biggest passenger plane, will be a "flying palace" for Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the manufacturer announced Monday.

Airbus SAS would not give a specific price tag for the VIP double- decker jet, with its football field-length wings, saying only that it would cost more than the aircraft's list price of $320 million.

That doesn't even include the money the prince will spend to custom fit the nearly 6,000-square foot plane to include whatever he wants. The options include private bedrooms, a movie theater or even a gym with a jacuzzi. He'll also need a flight crew of about 15 to operate the luxury liner.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....seems to me that we have lots of oil in Alaska... ;).....Why not use that ???

Dubai doesn't have much oil. They'll be out in 15-20 years. That's why they're spending so much money turning their city into a commercial powerhouse.

Don't focus on Dubai, at least they're aware that oil is a fleeting thing and are taking steps to remove them from the equation. Be more concerned with Iran, Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia.

Because it would be a shame to destroy the environment in the area just to get to it...Not to mention if a spill ever happened..well, I don't want to think of the devastation it would bring...I'd rather not drill in Alaska...

Let's focus on turning to alternatives before we have to...Am I the only one who feels this way...?

Normally I'd agree, but really, ANYTHING to remove our dependence on such a volatile area of the globe (the middle east) would be a good thing at this point.
