I think it should be a monthly event during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months.  Winter months we could rent the skating complex.

I really do like the idea (well both ideas actually), of the letter to the editor. Perhaps print a few of the best ones of the week on Sunday?

That may be pushing it, Mayo....but, I could see some merit in a local amateur night.   ;)

What?? Near Naked Lady... Stripper Mobile same thing to me.
Oh wait!... have the lady on the hotdog cart, and have her on the umbrella pole and she can do her routine and she would also have a special belt outfit with the condiments and all you would have to do is hold up your hotdog and ....
I need to go take a cold shower now.

LOL...I think between the two of us that we may have something plausible, Mayo!

The intent of the thread, and posting a link of the best few of the week is a damned good idea.  I do miss not reading the letters to the editor in the copy version, Linda Campora provided a lot of good cheap entertainment.

Those were good. I am getting tired with the back-and-forth religious/non-religious letters.

I've often wondered if she realizes she is the laughing stock of the community when she opens her mouth.....other than Jan Jay.

I don't get the paper, but when I read one, I never read Letters to the Editor, just headlines and obituaries, lol. What kinds of topics are usually there? Mostly local politics?

Yea....usually local politics, or locals with opinions on world issues.

I have seen a variety of subjects in letters to the Editor.
Many times there are issues that are related to our schools brought to light there.

Honestly, there is no place for it on this forum. Nothing would be discussed, It would just turn into a sex thread.

I know you folks can't begin to understand it, but not everyone in this county wants/needs to know what you pleasure.

I've written one... and it was published.

I did it for extra credit when I was going to MCCC  :P

Two here.  Both were in regard to Layne Hunt when he was the principle out at the high school.

Good to know.

I disagree.

Then I guess something would be discussed, just not the topic it started out as.

While I look back at what was said, and look at it from the perspective of someone either new to the forum, or not a regular poster, I can see how this thread may come off as in poor taste

While I understand your statement, this forum has been like this ever since I first logged in here, and is one of the reasons why I have stuck around, as is the case for quite a few others I'm sure. And quite possibly the reason why so many others have not as well I guess.

This forum has become an extension of our daily communication with others. People we have learned to love (and in some cases hate), but have learned that we all need to try and get along as best as possible.

People will continue to be who they are, if you don't like that, then that is what the ignore feature is for. Yes, occasionally they will go too far, and then you may report it to the admins, who may or may not do something about it, depending on many factors.

I won't even attempt to fathom what those factors may be, but they exist I'm sure.  ;)

Also, if you do report something, it may not be answered right away, so you don't know if they are going to do anything about it or not. And, if they do decide to do something, you usually won't be notified, and by usually I mean almost always.

Now, the reason for this, is because this site is not a money maker for them. I like to think of it as a science experiment that went horribly wrong, and now has a life of it's own.

And what gives it life, is the complex myriad of people, co mingling together on an internet forum. Sharing stories, life experiences, and, for the most part, having fun.

Hopefully there is some wisdom there that I was able to confer to others.

Okay, now I'm drained, I've used up the remainder of my intellectual power of remaining cool and trying to explain that in a manner that would convey my meaning without upsetting too many.

See ya!

Well said FB. :)
As always your post is  spot on. Thank You for what you always bring to this forum.  I would make a list of what you do bring,  but due to the Nascar race, hubby  and my bloody Mary waiting for me I can't right now. ;)

fluffy bunnies,

I read the terms of service when I signed up.
Whereas, the majority of you here do not find wet t-shirts as being:
(from the terms of service)
"Descriptions or details about any sexual organs"
I am sure there are some that do.

You are correct, I do not have to come here. I post here very little, and I read less all the time, for the simple reason, I don't need to know what is posted here. I was coming here for discussion about the community, events, news, etc.
It is a public forum.

You all appear know each other, and that is nice. It is obvious that anyone new here, must agree with the majority, or else.

What I suppose no one thinks about is that there are plenty of people that read this forum. Each of you are conveying an image to your peers. You are also conveying an image of Monroe News.

It would not be unheard of that a child would talk to their teacher about mommy or daddy playing at Monroe Talks. You would be amazed what children say about their parents to their teachers.

My opinion doesn't matter.  I can see there is no place for me here.

Stay cool.
