How fast (or slow) is your internet connection??

Do you still have dial up?

Cable...   if so how fast?

DSL...   if so how fast?

anyone have a satellite dish for Internet...   how does it work...

any other comments or remarks are appreciated.

I have dsl and no Idea how fast.  Not as fast as a cable modem but much faster than dial up.

I am back where I started...on dial up  :D
I have sat. tv, was considering it for internet. Way more pricey.

I have a cable modem. 5m down 256k up.

It is pretty righteous. On a good day with our wireless router I can download at 700kbs. Pretty much that's about 1 megabyte downloaded every 2 seconds, so about 30mb downloaded per minute.

I hope I never need to go on diasl up again. We actually avoided buying a house once that didn't have cable internet in the area, well it was ONE of the deciding factors.

I have comcast high speed, but at times it can be a bit slow on loading pages, but downloads are always fast...

I have dial-up, and I hate it.  I'm looking at Dish Network satellite - it's down to only $49.99 a month, with free installation.  Might have to take the plunge.

Is that a full rate or a teaser rate for so many months...

Do they use the same dish as your tv or do you need a different one??

comcast high speed cable........I do not miss dail up at all.

son had dsl for a while, he got dropped alot.

friend has satellite.....every time the weather changes he doesn't have internet........
we had a dish for TV for a while, same thing, change in the weather, no TV.

I have DSL thru AT&T. Does fine with me. I can download pretty fast, but not as fast as cable. The thing I like is the price. My bill for last month was $55.00, but that was for BOTH my DSL and phone bill with 3 extras, like caller id, waiting, etc. Now keep in mind there is harldy any long distance I use. I am allowed so many minutes a month. If you just need a regular phone and no long distance, you should look into this.  I did not know this when I ordered, but if you ask for it, they will give you the net for 10 bucks. I pay 19.95.

I, too, have AT&T DSL and I love it.  I had Comcast high speed cable and it was just too expensive.  I switched and am saving a lot of money.  I have great speed for the things I do.  I am not into downloading music, so I can't comment on the downloads.  I cannot imagine my connection being any faster.  When I did tech support for Comcast high speed, I was told to tell people that our speed was "lightening fast."  :D  We were on a T1 line at work and I really never noticed that it was any faster than what I have now.   :)

I have Charter at home, and it used to be really good. Lately, they seem to have problems on an almost weekly (or at least bi-weekly) basis.

I use a BroadbandAccess card for my laptop, too, when I'm out and about and that is actually pretty good, so long as I get a descent Verizon signal.

Wow, that is so strange billylumbergh....    We have Charter and ours seems to finally have gotten better after 4 long rotten lousy frustrating years of problems...

Maybe they took your good equipment and brought it out here and took our bad equipment and put by you...

I know they have had a couple of interuptions that they say was a cable cut somewhere out of the area on a main line...    That has happened several times over the 4 years.

Maybe they need to bring in another feed from somewhere else to build a better system...   for what we pay they could wrap the line in titanium :( :( :(

No, actually that's their regular rate.  The teaser is $40.00 per month, for ten months, then it goes up to $49.99 on the eleventh month.  You have to sign a two-year contract to get that deal, though.

They don't use the same dish as your TV - they install a new one.  From what I understand, Dish Network put a new satellite in orbit last year, and they are able to blow away everyone else's price.
