Kirk Gibson to auction off historic HR bat

What a class act, and display of home loyalty.

Proceeds from the sale of the World Series trophy and MVP award will go to the Kirk Gibson Foundation to support Michigan State athletics and to help fund partial scholarships at the two Michigan high schools where his parents taught.

The auction is over and the bat sold for $575K  8) 8) 8)

They haven't announced who bought it yet though.

I would bet that there are a thousand people willing to pay a thousand dollars for a plaque with an embedded sliver of the bat.
