Couple of numbers from June.

84K Jobs - Puny
85K more people on SSI - Gargantuan.

Maybe if people weren't so lazy we'd have better job numbers, right? Isn't that how this works? Blame the poor people?

Government insists we buy health insurance. If we don’t they are going to assess a tax on us  for not doing so. If we don’t pay the tax then they will sick the IRS on us. God Bless America.

Well what happens when  the consensus of the 180 commissions, boards etc., created under Obamacare, conclude something must be done to “pay” for exploding healthcare costs.  Fat people. These folks are not watching their weight and it costs the health system billions and billion because of it. Fat tax. A graduated tax based on the percentage one is overweight as established by some board or other. As fat people lose weight their tax penalty is reduced accordingly. The other plus to a “fat tax” is these fat people will have less money to buy food. Less food, more weight lost. It‘s brilliant!  Michele Obama will be pissed she didn’t think of it first.

“Because if you don’t have any fresh ideas, then you use failed tactics to scare voters. If you don’t have a record to run on then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things.”

This is what Obama said back in 2008. It was taken from a recent Romney Ad
Entitled: “What Happened”?

I submit there isn’t much of any daylight between that clip and the current Obama 2012 campaign.

As a Tea Party type Conservative it is such a joy to exchange ideas with the Progressives in the forum. If I say the country can’t afford to have so many people on the dole they say this means I support leaving autistic children on the street to fend for themselves.

Now if the  MSM were to weigh in on the argument they would approach it from the angle that I, the radical one, need to refute the allegation that I support leaving autistic children on the street to fend for themselves.

So what DO you propose we do with the autistic children? Get them jobs so they can fend for themselves?

Now I am fairly sure that your reply will be something to the effect of "If I had more money, instead of paying all the taxes I pay, I'd donate more to charity".

Right now, charities are not even able to fill the gaps where the government falls short. And giving more money to the wealthy was also supposed to create jobs, that never materialized, because they have invested all their money in commodities, and betting on which stocks are going to come up short. And this isn't just since Obama came to office either, so don't try and use him as the scape goat once again.

What is your solution to help those out who truly need help? Because we know that EVERY last Republican got where they are today, because they never got help from anyone.

Well, you don't want to pay for it, and the families with autistic children probably can't afford the care, so..... yes, you'll be leaving them out on the street. That's the "down side" of Tough-****-Libertarianism.

Just because you don't think your opinions have consequences don't mean they wouldn't happen.

And no, the answer is not "let some charitable group take care of them."

Maybe some do not know, or really even care, what it takes to care for an autistic child.

One is the most obvious, medical care.  The only people trained for the kinds of medicines they need are psychiatrist.  They charge lots more than just a doctor.  A side to that is almost all insurance plans limit psychiatric visits to some small number, usually ten per year.  If medicine is off or no longer working, a patient can go through ten visits in just a few months.  Then there is the behavioral modification therapy, not for the autistic child but for the caregivers so that they can learn how to handle the demands of a special child.

Then there is general medical care that poses different problems for doctors.  Such as a simple cat scan.  For an autistic that means a general anesthesia just like surgery.  Think that is cheap?  And believe me, you go through one of those no matter how badly needed and you do whatever you can to not have to do it again.  But, that is the only way to do them.

That is just the medical payments part.  Then add to that the time.  Time for medical appointments, time for calling doctors to adjust medicines seemingly a few times a month, the trips for regular blood tests, and the weekly therapy sessions.  And when that is not happening someone has to be right there taking care of them ALL THE TIME.  In most cases that means one parent’s JOB is to care for the child and not an outside one.  If they opt to pay for a person to care for the child it isn’t an easy thing.  Most people can’t handle the strain of having to be there paying attention and basically doing nothing else but that.

The there is diet.  Autistics are almost always finicky eaters.  Because of that they have nutritional problems and need vitamins.  Also some benefit from special minerals that are very expensive.  Even if they don’t most will still shell out a couple of hundred dollars for a vitamin mineral-trial of a couple of months to see if it can help.

Want to know the worst COST of caring for an autistic child.  The a$$holes at stores or in public that treat you like you are a bad parent for having a spoiled or bratty kid instead of learning some basic skills to see the disease and not the behavior.  An autistic child can very well walk right past YOU and not even know you exist, because to them you don’t.  I’ll take that any day over those that look down their noses at people as if they shouldn’t exist because they are inferior to them, or poor.

Oh, and I wish people would learn that most autistic children are not “retarded” as in low IQ or stupid.  They cannot communicate or have no emotional connection to people, but often they are smarter than average people. They just don’t always have a way to use it.

To give an example of the demands of taking care of an autistic child.

For the last two months my little guy has been getting instances of perseveration, more frequent and more intense.  The therapist worked with us to develop ideas to try.  You would be amazed at some things to try.  Anyway, last weekend he decided he wanted one particular toy.  He went on the internet, found the toy, found a picture of the toy and called it up as a photo display.  Then he said “that one”.  Now, he has almost no verbal skills, so finding what he wanted was pretty good.  “That one was said as “I want that.”  But, then it became perseveration.  It no longer was about wanting the toy but became a skipping record. So, he kept pointing to the computer image and saying “that one,” over and over anywhere from a few times a minute to nearly constant.  Not for a few minutes, not for an hour - ALL DAY.  It was a major operation to get him to go to the bathroom or to eat because all he could do was skip the record.

Let me reiterate, it was not really about wanting the toy, but the feedback loop that he could not stop.

Calls to the psychiatrist and consults with his social worker (yeah, just another one to work with the others) and he had us stop one of his medicines he has taken for years.  Two days and not even a tiny perseveration, so it seems that was the cause.  Now, he is bouncing off the walls majorly hyper which I can handle but his impulsive is dangerous and means major cleaning up.  So, now we start trying a replacement medicine and try this one then that one and up doses, and maybe a year from now it will finally stop being a big time taker.

Or I can go back to when he was maybe 3 ½ and had no concept of communication.  Not just not talk, not understand that there even IS communication.  The first thing you need to know is if he can hear at all, because that is how it seems.  Now, at this time he was not diagnosed.  So, doctors and tests to see if he can hear.  So his mother and I work and plan and try and she comes up with trying sign language.  I made up a sign for Popsicle and made him use it when he wanted one and bingo, somehow he learned that there was such a thing as communication.  Now, it wasn’t magic.  His language is small and mostly only I and his mom can understand him most of the time, but he can ask and reply mostly.  How do you put a money value on that?

Also, an autistic child is not that until a certain age, I don’t remember maybe 6?  Anyway, even with a diagnosis, it isn’t officially autistic until then.  And signing papers saying he or she is autistic is major.  It is a forever and ever thing that can never be taken away.  Even if there was a mistake or a miracle cure over night, he or she would permanently be autistic legally.

I have to agree with Fluffy.  Since YOU brought it up, then what is your plan to deal with autistic children and adults.

Leaving the Autistic children out of it, what do you propose we do to "get the people off the dole" John?

Do you have any plans other than eliminating welfare, medicaid and food stamps?

What are your solutions? We're all waiting for your answer.

I am personally not sure how "to get people off the dole", and I don't think many people are entirely sure how to do that currently.

With that said I would like to see reform of the social safety net to eliminate the fraud in the programs. They are necessary programs, and should not be cut from people who need them, but there is fraud, even if minor, in many of programs.

I would also like to see the DoD budget slashed and continue to decrease it until they can finally become an auditable entity, and even when that happens they should not receive nearly as much funds as they do. I believe they are one of the few, maybe only, government entities that is not auditable, so we have no idea where the money is actually going there.

Also I would like to see a lot of changes to the US tax code, possibly another tax reform act, since the last one was in 1986. Which with the vast changes we have had from a technological standpoint since then makes it seem like a much longer time ago.

I am all for implementing the eventual outcome of ObamaCare right now. Those alive, round them up and put them in Government run hospitals and institutions.
Those about to be born...won't.
Why wait?

We're 14+ trillion in debt right now. We can't wait til we're 16+ trillion to do it. Let's get started right away.
Obama can do it by Executive Order tomorrow and save us billions.
It's the Liberal way of "Investing in the Future".
