I've never tried the BLT but I've eaten a lot of their open faced steak sandwiches 8* 8* 8*

I had seen the place on TV, but had never been there until a few weeks ago when the people I was with insisted that we stop and try it.

YMMV, but I’m not a fan.  Ridiculously huge portions might impress a lot of people, but not me.  The four of us were in agreement that aside from the portions, the food was nothing to write home about, and some of it was downright flavorless.  Prices were not unreasonable for the amount of food, but were higher than you would pay for a reasonable amount of food at a normal restaurant.

Lots of wasted food from our table.  I can’t imagine how much food that place throws away.

If they drag you back again try the steak sandwich...

I've always wondered if they didn't have some Saginaw Valley hog farmer they were in cahoots with considering the huge amounts of bacon they go through.

And maybe the food isn't as good as it used to be...  that frequently happens with established businesses 8* 8* 8*

I first went to Tony's back in early 1988. I was dating a girl from Southgate whose father worked for GM at the Fischer Body Plant on Fort Street in Detroit. He was getting relocated to the Flint area and we all went looking at houses. Some of the people he knew from Flint said we HAD to go to Tony's. Everything he heard about the place and their portions was true. :o :o :o

Every time we have stopped there, the food was delicious.  And being a BIG (Yes, a bigger guy) BLT guy, I am in heaven every time We stop!

Is Tony's on the way to the Platte, or is that too much out of the way?

They will give you a takehome container, usually enough bacon left for the entire weekend trip and more.

The quickest drive is 23 to 75 and clear on up to Grayling which puts you about directly east of the Platte...   I prefer to take 10 from 23-75 at Bay City over to 115 and then 131 on up...

Either way Tony's is just off 23-75 at Birch Run...

Naw....most times I take either 75 or 75/23 up to 10 and cut across towards Cadillac.

Love that place....and a great place to just people watch too.
