I see Monroe got off to  a good start. With a score of 46-6 it makes me wonder if Monroe is that good or if Detroit Southeastern is that bad. I have heard very little about any of the local teams this year and can't believe it's that time of year already.

I don't know much about DSE either Billy, but they were 5-4 last season, and 10-2 each of the previous years.

Just took a look at Monroe's schedule, they have a really good shot at making the play-offs.  So we could get a Bedford-Monroe match-up twice this year, or that game depending on which way it goes could keep one of the teams out (Bedford's schedule is brutal).

I see Monroe easily winning against Tecumseh, Skyline, and Huron, that give them 4 wins with the win over DSE. And that's not even me looking at the teams that are traditionally tougher, I know Pioneer is down a bit this year from what I've read, I don't know much about Saline or Fordson this year though, and Sexton is traditionally good.

Drawing Tecumseh instead of Adrian or Chelsea was a huge benefit to Monroe this year, I hope it works out in their favor.


Bedford really upgraded their schedule this season.  They kept Airport, which I don't know a lot about this season, but they are traditionally good.  Huron, Skyline and Monroe Jefferson (sadly they've been down more than up lately) should give Bedford 4 wins. They'll have to play well in the other games and pull them out. I didn't get to see the game last night against Airport, so I'm not sure how well they played, but it was a 14-7 game most of the way.

They picked up a huge game against Toledo Central Catholic, if they win that game I could see the momentum carrying them to another undefeated regular season. A loss wouldn't be devastating, but it would make it harder for me to figure out exactly where the team is, that game is this Friday, I'll be there. 

Then they also play Pioneer, which is a rivalry game, Saline which again I don't know a lot about, and Adrian which is an upgrade over playing Tecumseh last season.  I can see them finishing anywhere from 5-4 to 9-0, more likely in the 7-2, 8-1. A lot depends on how quickly the new QB picks up on the Offense.  It'll be a fun season either way though, hopefully I make it out to a few games, maybe 12 like I did last season, which since I missed the opener would mean a deep play-off run.

Word on the street is Monroe is a lot bigger this year. The Bedford match up will be a good one as I fully expect that rivalry to grow. I see Monroe with a playoff appearance this year as well.

There was a beat down in Bedford tonight. Sadly felt like old times.  I didn't get to see the game though, so I don't know if it were actually a competitive game or not.

I wouldn't sweat it Toledo CC is usually a darn good football team. Anyone know a Monroe score yet?

According to the Free Press Monroe had to break up a pass in the end zone for the win!!!

Monroe 32, Lansing Sexton 31: Host Sexton ran out of time as it dropped a non-league contest to Monroe. Sexton drove to the 10-yard line before having a pass broken up in the end zone on the game's final play. Monroe took the lead on Alec Swindeman's touchdown run with 1:59 remaining before the Big Reds ran out of time on their last drive. Willie Dillard was 10 of 24 passing for 200 yards, while Anthony Goodman had a receiving and rushing touchdown and 11 tackles.

Wow that's awesome, way to get it started. I've yet to see them play but it sounds as if they might be for real. Two good wins.

Since Monroe, and SMCC played on differant days for their fist 2 games, I watched both teams. Monroe looks pretty good. Good speed and size.
It will be a long year for SMCC, No size, only 1 player with speed but they don't use him much.

Bedford and Monroe both won.  No surprise for Monroe this week, but heck of a start.

I'll take it. Off to a nice start at 3-0 hopefully we can keep it going tonight in Ann Arbor. Not sure what happened last week but I know Skyline stated off at 2-0 so maybee they've improved this season too.
