LOL! I think any mere mortally would have been unceremoniously snapped in half by the MSU defense. They were abusive.

wow...Mortally should read mortal.

No doubt....great defense.

They have Wisconsin next week....that should be a good one to watch.

Absolutely! It will be interesting to see where all the Big10 teams stand in a couple weeks.

Game was close until the INT at the end, state looked solid on defense but definitely lacked any kind of self restraint and looked thugish at times. There is no doubt that the Spartans were coached to play this way. This is why the Spartans will never be anything more than a second rate team. And most certainly, although Hoke and the Michigan players will be careful not to say anything in public, this will be a motivating factor for Michigan in the years to come when they regain their prominence and State slips back into mediocrity.

Sounds like sour grapes my friend.Sparty had a couple personal fouls and some hard hits but I highly doubt they were coached to do that.m just got outplayed by a better team, they were uncovered as a pretender, deal with it.

m may be on the way back but until then m's seniors can stew over the fact they were 0-4 against sparty.

Look on the bright side,m has 8 home games this year, they can take out their frustrations on purdue for homecoming, beat osu finally and Wisconsin isn't on the schedule.Sounds like 9-10 wins and a new year's day bowl.Even with the easy schedule Id call that progress

a few facts and stats

Michigan State finished with seven sacks and 10 tackles for loss. It held Michigan to 250 total yards and just 82 on the ground. Michigan came into the game averaging 457.5 yards of total offense and 257 yards rushing.

Robinson was held to 42 yards rushing and was just 9-for-24 for 123 yards and an interception passing. It was Robinson's worst rushing performance as a starter and his worst completion percentage (37.5) as a passer.

Deal with what? I've been giving sparty full credit for the win, they did deserve it. The fouls didn't change the outcome of the game, but the spartans did make asses of themselves. Act like you've been there.

I don't see anybody derailing Wisconsin in the Big Ten +2 Fuzz, even my beloved Spartans.  I think it's Wisconsin's to lose, but I hope I'm wrong.

And as far as yesterday's game, MSU had 2 very inopportune drops and 2 lost fumbles.  Maybe a score in those, maybe not.

No doubt, ell.....MI had opportunities and lost them.  The better team won IMO.

Wisconsin's remaining schedule:

Sat, Oct 22    at (23) Michigan State    8:00 pm    --
Sat, Oct 29    at Ohio State    8:00 pm    --
Sat, Nov 5    Purdue    TBA    --
Sat, Nov 12    at Minnesota    TBA    --
Sat, Nov 19    at (16) Illinois    TBA    --
Sat, Nov 26    Penn State    TBA

At State and at OSU will be their only real tests.  Illinois is overrated I believe.

Actually against the second best team in the Big 10 Michigan didn't play horribly.  MSU has an incredible defense and for some reason Michigan's O coordinator just kept running right at it.  If my opponent were bringing 5 guys from center to the right on everyplay I might try going to the left everyonce in a while.... or at least once.  I still can't believe how many times they called for Denard to run into the pressure.... idiotic!!!!

ckirish you are right it will be 9 or 10 wins for Michigan including a win over and a schedule much tougher than ND's.  I hd really hoped to get past Sparty and be 10-0 going into the Nebraska game, but the reality is Michigan has not progressed that far, YET!

As for Denard... was anyone bothered by the ESPN analysts coverage of the game yesterday?  I mean WOW, about the 3rd biggest game in the 3rd biggest game in the country and we get ESPN's D list crew.  Spielman who hates Michigan and some other fella who you would have though believed Denard is the second coming of Christ himself.  "I just don't understand why you take him off the field...."  Well I'll tell you why, he couldn't hit the ocean from the beach yesterday, thats why.  Denard as a passer has a stock value that is plummeting like a lead filled helium balloon.  Look to see Devin Gardner start against Perdue unless Denard makes tremendous strides during the bye week.

For as poorly as Michigan played offensively and as poorly the game was coached from an offensive playcalling standpoint, kudos to M for being in it until the pick 6.  I thought Michigans D was pretty good but some issues with the run are really hurting them at critical times.  All in all I am upset they lost a winnable game but can definately see the progress and I am happy with the positives.

As far as being uncovered.... I am pretty sure most everyone who pays attention to Michigan football knew the weaknesses ckirish.... it is those who focus more on rankings that were likely shocked by yesterdays results.  But hey we are still 17 or 18 depending on the poll you follow and that is still better than being unranked with 3 losses, which is exactly where ND AND OSU are, and belong.
