Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I'm pretty sure these are WW2-era bolt action rifles. They're about as dangerous and high tech as a curling iron.

This is gun control masturbation; there aren't too many gangsters with Garands in their trunk.

LF-the M1 Garand and carbine are semi-auto rifles. The Garand uses an 8 round clip inserted from the top of the breech and the Carbine uses a detachable magazine.

I guess I must be a criminal since I own both of these.

Family Man is exactly correct regarding these rifles.  The Garand weighs almost 10 pounds, empty.  It is clunky, compared with more modern rifles.  But I still love the Garand.

Lordfly is also correct.  These rifles are typically NOT used by criminals.  This stunt by Obama is "Gun Control Masturbation"!  I like that title!

I'm still waiting for Frenchfry to let us all know why he thinks this move by Obama is considered an "achievement".  It's an asinine move, and I hope it bites him in the as.

Now to answer your question....the good of having less guns on the street is obvious, no need to elaborate...unless you're of the typical Republican mind that opinions that differ from yours will no longer be tolerated in the USA.

A two-year reprieve from deportation for certain eligible immigrants is a way to make the immigration system more fair, more efficient and more just.

Now THAT was asinine. Guns kill plain and simple. As a kid, I used to make my own guns out of steel tubing and the firing pin was a dull nail that used a rubber band. They're called zip guns and yes they can kill.

Disregarding the obvious typo on guard...I believe it should be "border"

Not sure what kind of gun did the killing but many seem to assume a gun must be a certain kind to kill....my contention is ANY available gun is capable.

I'm in the minority when it comes to advocating for a gunless society but that's okay....we're all still allowed to have opinions...even when it evokes the morons to emerge from the shadows with their attacks.

This isn't about outlaws....normally law-abiding citizens have used guns of all types, in ways that are contrary to what gun advocates say. I've already mentioned the time a gal found my hidden rifle and shot herself between the eyes.  Guess it could've been worse...she could've used it on others.
